Just because I know all of you care so much, the Jacks came in at #43 in the nation (ranking #1 in the Summit) in College Sports Madness Top 44 preseason rankings and preview. Everyday they will unveil the next team in the rankings. www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/11947One mistake they made is that they list Thompson as a Senior instead of a Sophomore. Love preseason rankings! Congrats on...

Even being 43rd at the end of the season probably means having to win the conference tournament to make the big dance. No at-large Summit love from these guys.

I wonder if the Coyotes would have won the conference tourney whether the Jacks would have still come in as the highest seeded conference team. I think the Jacks had a chip on their shoulder after losing the conference tourney last year.
This year the Yotes need to play with a chip on their shoulder as well. I know that final game against the Jacks where everything went wrong (and I watched the replay and everything literally went wrong when it came to scoring the basketball) should really feel like a punch in the gut to the Yotes. They need to use that as motivation and whether true or not they need to use the lack of respect card as another motivating factor. The Yotes deserved to be considered about as high as SDSU in the pre season rankings but if they are not the Yotes should hang the pre season ranking on their lockerroom wall for the entire season. Feeling disrespected can absolutely be one of the largest motivating factors. I hope the Yotes feel that way.

I wonder if the Coyotes would have won the conference tourney whether the Jacks would have still come in as the highest seeded conference team. Yes, nationally SDSU is a known entity in Women's BB. A top 25 ranking, win in the tournament, almost knocking off Baylor. Multiple NCAA tournament appearances, All American player, they all get noticed nationally. Oh, and it also helps to schedule top teams in the non-conference season. Bringing in Notre Dame is huge for SDSU's national credibility. I know you really want to equate equal footing to the USD Women's program, it's good; it is not nationally recognized. Will it be? Maybe, but for now you are still in SDSU's shadow.

I would say over the past 2 years it is pretty much equal footing. Both program have one conference and one tourney title with no NCAA tourney wins. The Jacks can schedule the entire Big 10 in the non conference schedule but if they don't win the regular season Summit title did that schedule prepare them properly enough for their conference season? It's not who you schedule but who you beat and I fully realize that the Jacks have beaten some tough teams in the non conference.
