He is leaving because he was forced out, not due to lack of playing time. I doubt a kid as loyal and persistent as that would just want to leave. I don't like what that represents for our program if we can let a person like that go after a season of no opportunity for him. Deserves better.

It's the name of the game in D1. Happens everywhere. State had one too.

Agreed, I have no problem with it. Don't blame the current staff for moving on from a player they did not recruit to USD. Good news for Adam is that it looks like he will graduate this summer and be immediately eligible elsewhere. He had the same opportunity as anyone to play last year with a new staff. Coaches play the best players for their system and philosophy.

Not a big loss for the Coyotes. It's not like they are going to miss his on court production. He had a bit of an upside but I guess that should be true of everyone on the roster. He simply did not get it done in his chances. One can argue that he wasn't given a fair shake but that argument can be made for all players that aren't part of the rotation that get the majority of the minutes. If his departure gives an opportunity for the Yotes to bring in another exciting recruit than so be it.

He is not being forced to leave and this does not reflect poorly upon the program. Coaching changes are going to occur and situations such as these are bound to come with them in some cases. Thoseby is a good kid. He just didn't fit the new staff's vision I suppose.

Perhaps maybe basketball he wasnt what the coaching staff wanted but did you read his note? What a class act. he had nothing but good things to say about the University. I want to thank Adam for three years of hard work and dedication to Coyote athletics. He deserves some respect from us on the board. Not a good riddance

"I have to announce my release from the University of South Dakota men’s basketball program" "As the opportunity to play is no longer available here and coaching staff need to do what they believe is right" He was forced out. I just spoke to the kid too, didn't seem all that happy and affirmed that it was not his choice.

Thoseby is a class act for sure. Still, this is not a shocker.

Yes, his scholarship was not renewed. This is division I basketball. If no one else noticed, he was behind a walk on in Mayot a lot of the season. The writing was on the wall. I only know of what I've seen of him on the court and I have no issue with the staffs decision. Seems like a good kid the few times I have seen him around. It sounds like he will be eligible to play next year, and I wish him the best of luck. Hopefully he will be able to carve out a roll on his future team. This happens way more than people realize or hear about in division I programs.

Not a good riddance There are about 100 million people in the world that are a class act so what is the point. That doesn't mean they should be on a basketball team taking a scholarship from a player that very well might be more deserving. Hopefully he does well where ever he goes. I have nothing against Thoseby but I have seen nothing from him from a skills perspective supporting him to be on the team either. He wasn't a real contributor so from a basketball standpoint he won't be missed very much and this is a D1 college basketball team we are talking about, not a campaign for president. Good for him that he had nice things to say on his way out. He will basically be forgotten about by this time next year.

Statistics from his Sophomore Season in Conference PTS/40 16.8, 13th in Conference, 1st on South Dakota 3Pt % 42.4, 8th in Conference, 1st on South Dakota
He wasn't given a chance this season. He had one 20min game this season (18pts), and he brought the team back from a potential 30pt blowout.
That is such an awful way to talk about an ex-player.

Scoring is nice, but do we have a stat that measures defensive efficiency or extremely questionable decision making with the ball?He can score, but his fundamentals of offense and defense were not at the D1 level. Stats are great but the eye test doesn't lie.

Contradict yourself some more. What stats? You sound personally offended.

I was saying those are both factors you have to assess by watching him play. I'm not offended, just a little mind-blown by the thoseby infatuation on this board. But yes, personally, I'd like to see the scholly go somewhere else. I understand the argument for Thoseby, but there are just much more negatives than positives for my liking.
