The game just went to Overtime tied at 65. IPFW barely scored in the last 10:00 and were still good enough to take IU to extra time. More than half Hoosier fans IMO.

Indiana scored to force OT. They were behind by as many as 12 points in the second half and weren't going anywhere until they went into a 2-3 zone with about 9 minutes left. IPFW would have won this game in regulation if they could have shot the three.
In OT, two Mastodon players fouled out.
This game is electric! Over 11,000 in attendance.
Note to coach Smith: play a zone against this team if you want to have a chance.
TRIVIA: The first televised NBA game was played in 1953 in this coliseum (All-Star game). As Johnny Carson would say: "I did not know that".

Ft. Wayne wins it 71-68. Biggest upset of the college basketball season so far. I'm glad for them.

Fort Wayne wins 71-68 in Overtime. The Mastadons won this on the defensive end. To hold a team like Indiana to 68 through 1 OT session is quite impressive. Fort Wayne's entire offense during the entire second half of the second half was to basically pass the ball around quickly until they got an open three. They barely even tried to go inside but mainly because they couldn't. It was a physical game and Indiana did not get any preferential treatment from the refs. It was cool to see the stunned looks on the Hoosier Fan's faces towards the end of overtime.

You would have never known that Indiana was the major favorite if the teams weren't in their uniforms. Obviously this was an upset tonight but it's not like Fort Wayne shot lights out. They barely scored and still won. Scrappy game overall and most definitely as I said this game was won by the IPFW defense.
I give props to Indiana for scheduling this game and if I were their program I would want to right the wrong and come back for a rematch maybe after a couple in Indiana's home gym first. Too many top programs are a bunch of wussies when it comes to scheduling and eventhough I do not like Indiana I am proud of them for allowing a lesser know Indiana D1 college to get their night in the sun. This is huge for Fort Wayne and the Summit League.

I can't believe they pulled it off. It seemed hopeless when the game went to OT and two of IPFW's best players fouled out. Their offensive gameplan completely fell apart and IPFW made just two field goals in the final 14:53 of the game. I can't believe they held on for this one.
Perhaps the biggest win ever for the Summit League. A win that will become folklore in Fort Wayne.

Oofda. I'm going to put this here with a gentle reminder there are only 351 teams in D1 basketball.

Thanks gopheryote for posting that.
As a conference the Summit is currently 23rd of a possible 32 conferences. Last year the Summit was in the neighborhood of being in the top 10. I want to say 9th was the highest they got.
On the Women's side
SDSU is 35 the Coyotes are a very respectable 49
The Summit is 17th out of 32 conferences.

In women's action Oral Roberts shocks #12 Oklahoma in Norman 74-67 on the heels of a late 18-0 run. Oral Roberts was only 3-4 coming into that game.

Not a good night at all for the Summit except if you are a Coyote Fan.
SDSU 58 at UNI 86 - UNI might actually be a bit down this year Denver 58 at Texas A&M 80 Oral Roberts 66 at Oklahoma 92 - ORU is having a very bad non conference season North Dakota 74 at NDSU 56 - statement win by the Hawks, NDSU is suddenly slumping
I know these were some tough matchups but every one of these teams got blown out. The bad loss is by NDSU losing that badly to UND at home. So much for the Jacks momentum. I think away from Frost they are going to be pretty bad. It might not be quite so pleasant to play them in Brookings.
Based on the non conference so far I think the power ranking might look pretty close to below.
1) IPFW 2) Omaha - win at Iowa puts them as undisputed #2 for now 3) NDSU - but they may be losing their grip here T4) USD T4) IUPUI - they have played a very tough schedule 6) SDSU - can't put them lower then this just yet 7) Denver 8) Oral Roberts - I just can't put them below Western Illinois 9) Western Illinois

I wonder if the NCAA will actually follow their own bylaws and give her another year of eligibility. From what I understand she is just under the games maximum number of games you can play in and still get a redshirt.
