haha thank you thumper. this is embarrassing for the SDSU fan.. she obviously hasn't been to sporting events in her life, Ive seen the student turn around at least 1000 times. what a bunch of sissies. oh and Pfieffer had 14 of the 18 foul calls vs NDSU and no he didn't have the technical, but he influenced it and the other refs' by his obvious BIAS> you think Kentucky vs Duke championship has any refs from those home states? hell no. It's embarrassing how much you guys whine about the refs. It's truly something to behold. You even whine about them in games you aren't in. You lost the game. I dont think most bison fans think like Lakesbison.

Question that is related (sort-of) to that article:
Does anyone know how much $$ SL gets from ESPN for the broadcast of the tourney games?
My theory is that getting picked up by ESPN was priority #1 when there was a cap of 5500 fans in the Arena. But now ticket sales could be worth more than what ESPN is paying. Playing the semi's on Saturday and finals on Sunday could mean sell-outs of over 11,000 tickets. It would also make it easier for fan bases from farther away to attend (and thus sell more tickets). We all know that $$ trumps reason for college sports, and ESPN essentially 'owns' college sports, but maybe this is the rare occasion where ESPN's money comes in second?

The reason they do the late start time for the men's championship game is because that's when ESPN had an opening. I think ESPN money would be way more than ticket sales but that's just my guess

Lakes I have known Kelly Pfeifer for over twenty years, dating back to being high school rivals. I would not consider him a SDSU fan. I watched him ref a game in Fargo a few years ago when up there for work and nothing to do so caught a NDSU game. Had a few beers with all the refs after the game. Never heard him say anything bad about NDSU, nor have I heard previous complaints. I actually consider him quite unbiased. My neighbor is a Bison fan we watched the game together. Didn't hear him complain or his NDSU buddies. I hate Sdsu but I think you are alone here in your bitching. Just saying. Go Terps! I can live with a lady Jacks upset then loss to Stanford.

haha bullshit. I watched him the entire tournament it must be a jealous south Dakota thing towards NDSU.. he had it in for us.
and the technical foul for a little push with 2 min left in a tight game in a TITLE game was absolute BULLS((((
truth hurts.

I think ESPN money would be way more than ticket sales but that's just my guess Being on ESPN is more about getting national exposure than money at this point in my opinion. I am fairly sure the Summit League would give ESPN the broadcast rights for free if necessary to get on the air nationally (and that might actually be case.) The national exposure helps recruitment, getting teams into the 2nd tier post-season tournaments and numerous other things.

The championships will still be on ESPN (unless they sign a deal with CBS Sports or Fox Sports - both of which could be options). The question is whether SL is really better off with a Tues championship and Mon semi finals if it would piss ESPN off to move it to be all on the weekend. The exposure thing is nice, but over rated (did any of you become fans of Fairleigh Dickenson after they were on TV last week?). Money is what matters to the league, AD's and presidents. I'm wondering what the economics really look like?

Maryland leads SDST 34-22 at the half. Both teams not playing very well.

The Jacks played their asses of 2nd half. That could've gone either way. It sucks to lose those

And for the second year in a row the Jacks NCAA tournament hopes end with Nagy walking into the locker room with a timeout left in his pocket.

I think the fact that the tournament is Saturday-Tuesday is enough proof that the exposure is more important right now. I would think attendance records would shatter (i guess they're kinda already doing that) if they moved the tournament to Thursday-Sunday. More people would be inclined to take off work on a Thursday-Friday than a Monday-Tuesday. Plus, if somehow there are not South Dakota teams playing in the semis & the finals, I'd think walk-up ticket sales would be much higher on a Saturday-Sunday than a Monday-Tuesday.
On Sunday, March 6th, ESPN/ESPN2 had the following tournaments: ACC Women, SEC Women, Big South Men, Big Ten Women, Atlantic Sun Men, and Pac 12 Women. No way they give the Summit League airtime over those conferences.
But that's just my opinion.

He couldn't call the timeout himself but he could've yelled at a player. The second Moffitt picked up his dribble I knew he was in trouble

Refs were terrible both ways. They don't call 2 tack fouls on stone in the first I think Maryland wins by 20.

Or did you get the night off from your job in the drive thru. Call when your Men make it to a SLT final. I would say NCAA but I doubt that will occur in the next decade or two. Hell, UNO have passed you by.
