AJ has been contacted for a number of high major jobs. He's either waiting for the right one or he's content for now. Not sure which one it is. Probably both. Which high major jobs has AJ been contacted for? I define high major as Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12, SEC, ACC, Big East and American.

No one can argue with the success AJ has had. He seems to be a class act that's proven he can win. So why he hasn't left SDSU for a high major job comes down to onenofvtwo things: 1.) He's content and happy to be in Brookings where he pretty much can do his own thing and stay as long as he wants OR 2.) He interviews poorly ( not guessing that to be true ) or there's something out there that some people see that keep him from landing that job. Most times it's the search firm schools hire to line up candidates and they do a ton of due diligence. Something is there but not known to the public. Nothing so serious that would tarnish reputations, but serious enough not to take a chance on. My guess and gut feel is its #1. And my hope is that it would be true of Coach Williams as well.

It has been discussed a number of times, he coveted the Minnesota job. When it opened up they were clear about wanting a female. He spoke with them, not sure he interviewed but there was no chance. He has it pretty good right now, as does Williams. SDSU and USD are both considered solid mid-majors in Women's BB. Would going to Green Bay have been a move up? Not really. In Women's there are the major conferences, the traditional powers, and the better mid-majors. AJ, and Williams are both at two of the better mid-majors right now. I don't see Williams leaving for anything but a P5. I think Williams will get her shot, especially as a very good female coach. Not sure AJ ever will.

But I can't see him leaving the area. It'd be difficult for him in regards to recruiting. There's nothing bad about AJ other than he backed out of the Green Bay job. No doubt that would bother a couple schools. He's just content. He'll leave for the perfect opportunity. No doubt he's beat enough power 5 schools to earn the job. My guess is that he knows he can't leave the region for recruiting. If Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, or Wisconsin opens then he'll be looked at closely as he'll be more interested. All speculation there.

Not anymore. To add to my previous post, Williams won't be at USD long if she doesn't want to be. She seems motivated and she's a great coach. Very likable person too which I think helps. She comes off more likeable than AJ in my opinion.

pretty simple-----and it has been mentioned. female coach-------and is proving to be a successful one at that. should it continue (and no reason it won't), she will have some pretty impressive offers in the very near future (if she hasn't had some already). offers that usd probably won't be able to come close to matching. a coach will weigh their options and make a decision one way or the other. no one ever knows what's laying in the road ahead.

I think if Amy ever leaves it has to be to a power 5 school, and it's not at all a longshot that power 5 schools will look at her. I'll say that if she is still in Vermillion a month from now then she will be here for a while.

Now that the Coyotes have won the WNIT Amy has got to be more of a hot commodity than she was before. Time to sit down with her and try and reach a long term contract assuming that can now be done with the BOR apparently being OK with it.

BTW - does anyone know if we have any marque/RPI-boosting games on the schedule for next year? We have a lot of minutes/experience returning (which sounds strange given the seniors, I know), and optimism and momentum are at full swing going into the off season.

Only set game for next year that comes to my mind is Illinois, which honestly does nothing for RPI unless they are a bit improved

Stock really can't get much higher and she just graduated everybody.

I have absolutely nothing to go on but my gut tells me she isn't in Vermillion much longer if even next season. She talks about how much she loves the team, players, university etc but you never really get a sense from her when listening that she is necessarily committed to staying either. I don't hear her saying I can't wait for next year or I can't wait to move into the new arena. It's almost as if she refers to the future of the team but not necessarily her being a part of that future. For the last several press conferences I have been listening to the way she talks trying to take que's from what she says and if she does have aspirations to move on I can't really sense it from listening to her but I also can't get a sense that she definitely would never leave either.
It seems like when something special starts building at USD in any of the three sports then something ends up happening to derail it. It would be great if she would stay and for the love of God I hope she does. Hopefully being as close to home as she will ever get, the excitement of the recent run and all the good things happening with facilities etc would be enough to keep her. Lavin didn't stay, Ryun Williams didn't stay and Amy trumps them all so young in her career.
Only time will tell but if something happens most likely we will know about it in the next couple of weeks or sooner.

All successful coaches leave because South Dakota is not a destination for any but a select few. Simply the nature of our situation. Amy may stay due to her SD roots but if she has coached her last game then you just gotta find the candidate who will continue her work just as she continued the work of Ryun Williams.

One thing to keep in mind, is the great recruiting class coming in and her great coaching of some of the younger players during the year. The Coyotes won't be dropping off as much as some might think. Tromboli, Fogg, Duffy, Arens, Bradley, and Liveringhouse look to get the majority of minutes, but the talented freshman should push for playing time. Oh almost forgot Severyn and Bonar will be coming off redshirts. And don't be surprised if she could bring in a transfer or two. Homily and Allison Arens could maybe use a redshirt season just to mature a little bit.
