Here is the breakdown of the minutes played Starters 40, 40, 40, 36, 28 Bench 11, 5 Now that is one deep team, Ha Ha :-) Those starters must be damn good basketball players. I don't know if it will make much of a difference how good they are in this game. USD has three things going for them. 1) They are at home. USD was home for two days when they didn't have to play or travel when the Ducks won't have a single "open day". They played yesterday, they will travel today and they will play tomorrow. Plus, the home crowd helps. 2) They have the extra day off. Seekamp said that they were getting tired so a extra day off will help. 3) They are a deeper team. USD plays 11 players while it looks like the Ducks only go about 6 deep. They still have to play the game and the Ducks are a good team but you would think this is about as you could get for a Final 4 game.

Doesn't really matter to me or the, probably, the general public which teams are "better". What sells the University of South Dakota and the WBB program better to the general public is competing with and defeating big name schools. In the current environment the names don't get much bigger than the University of Oregon and the University of Michigan. It would be awesome to beat the Ducks, have Michigan win, and then host the Wolverines in a Championship game. That would mean this run would include wins over Minnesota, Oregon, and Michigan. However you feel about the actual quality of the teams versus teams from Western Kentucky or FGCU it doesn't really matter, what matters is what sells to the general public.
The general public is ignorant. I've had people that don't follow USD, USD basketball, or even USD WBB take notice that the Coyotes are playing Oregon in a national tournament. Confusion reigns as they think this is the NCAA's then I explain it's the NITs and that makes no difference, they are still impressed USD is on the same court as some of these major universities.
* Edited to provide more clarity to the last paragraph.

I get that it's not for a national championship, but it's still a major postseason tourney. Great for recruiting and for the USD brand. Plus a WNIT win could help eliminate that mid-major stigma that allows only one Summit team in the NCAAs when there were two that deserved to be there.

You read that wrong. The NITs do matter. The point is that when I explained USD wasn't in the big tournament, the NCAAs, it didn't matter to them, they were still impressed that USD was playing in the NIT against big time schools. These folks know the difference between the NCAAs and the NITs from the men's side of the sport. They're not completely ignorant when it comes to college basketball.

But they get educated real fast,if the winning continues.Don't get me wrong,I do understand the point you're trying to make,I'm just saying people do get impressed when the little ole SD school beats the big bad P-5 school. That may have been true since,David and Goliath days ? I don't consider it much of an "upset" at all myself ,the USD women are legit, giant killers if you will. .

Would love to get revenge on the Pac-12. I felt like we had Washington on the ropes when we were up big and had a near double digit lead at half while holding Kelsey Plumb to almost nothing in the first half. Washington is a great team, but we let that one get away from us by going cold for an extended streak and letting Plumb and another gal get going in the second half with too many open looks. Fogg, Marge, and Kate will need to play a great game down low on Oregon's big and we will need a committee on the perimeter to beat this team. Oregon is good, but as 91Jack pointed out, we have some things going for us too. Getting excited for the game!

I've heard it mentioned that the Pac-12 is the best conference in the Nation, mainly on Rebkell's message board I guess, but they may be right laying claim to that honor, given the fact 2/4 teams in the final four are Pac-12 teams. Oregon finished 6th in the final conference standings with a 9-9 record, right behind Washington in 5th place with a 11-7 conference record. This game should be very close, but the Yotes at home are just too tough to beat,I think.
The Yotes are on a mission and will be hard to stop.I think they make it to the WNIT National Championship game, which I believe is televised to a National audience.Would be nice to give the last game in the Dome some National exposure,if the Yotes got to host it.
