Western Kentucky is our next opponent in this run through the WNIT. Western Kentucky (27-6) is a very tough team and looks like they may have been a tournament snub judging by their RPI of 38. As most of you are aware by now WKU advanced by winning at Saint Louis with a buzzer beater in OT last night, but the big point I want to make from that is the nightmare of a schedule this makes for Western Kentucky. They are going from an OT game in Saint Louis on Friday to having to be in Vermillion for a game on Sunday night. That's an incredibly short time to make a trip and watch any film on our team. Makes me glad our game is on Sunday unlike the other three "Elite 8" games that are being held on Monday.
This is the fourth "final game in the Dome" for this team, and win or lose I have a feeling that statement will finally be true. Getting to 30 wins would be a major accomplishment for this team and we have a chance to do it on our home floor. I hope to see an even fuller crowd than we had on Thursday to support the team.
Go Yotes!

By looking down the Hill Toppers schedule I saw one common opponent which was both teams winning at Florida Atlantic. WKU beat them 81-62 and the Coyotes beat them 76-53.
Western Kentucky finished 15-3 (2nd) in the 14 team Conference USA. The RPI for the conference ranks 13th. South Dakota finished 15-1 (1st) in the 9 team Summit League. The RPI for the conference ranks 18th.
These teams are very close but WKU has probably played a bit tougher schedule. WKU is probably about a 4 point favorite on a neutral floor but in the dome it will be very close to a pick em. The teams are so close that it will probably come down to how both teams strengths and weaknesses match up with each other.
If the Coyotes play the same type of defense and tenacity they played with against UNI I like their chances to be able to score enough points to win. I think the travel and short notice could play a factor against the Lady Toppers in this game like Yotes mentioned. The crowd should be into it and I am going with 74-66 for the Coyotes.

My only experience watching them (different players/team) was when they came to Frost Arena to play the Jackrabbits, who lost to them.It was a pretty close contest most of the game. I've followed their record after that. The Hilltoppers and MTSU (Middle Tenn) dominated the Sun Belt, MTSU went to the Conference USA and W.Ky followed a couple years later. The program is very good, the teams have been a little up and down, trending up this year.It should be a evenly matched game, but USD at the Dome should swing it their way.

We have lost one home game in the past two years. I just now caught word that this one team we lost to is playing in the Final Four next week. Incredible.

That team was Washington who won by 13 in a game on Dec 12 in the dome. Kelsey Plumb the nation's leading scorer was held to 9 points in the first half and the Lady Yotes led 33 to 28 at half. Washington had a 16-4 run to open the 4th Q which helped them open some distance on the scoreboard and Plum finished with 25. Washington only out rebounded the Yotes 38-37. It was a very close game most of the way. Washington today beat Stanford who had beaten state in round two and then had beaten Notre Dame in round 3. So Washington advances to the final 4 for the first time in school history. Go Yotes!!!

Weren't the State College blow-hard's on here saying our strength of schedule was weak and they were awesome because they got to play Notre Dame in Frost??? Huh...interesting.

Great win. Does this make it 'official' yet that the Yotes were snubbed for the other tourney?

If UTEP wins, we have one common opponent...Florida Atlantic. UTEP beat them by 12 on the road and 28 at home. We beat FAU by 23 in Boca Raton.
