Congratulations to the Yotes, they have been true champions in their approach all year. They deserve all the attention and praise they are receiving now.
FGCU has nothing to be ashamed of, they are a really good team, who also should have been in the NCAA. Very impressive performance on short rest and long travel.
A fan that follows from a distance, I have to say I was very proud of the fans that showed up in big numbers when it counted most. I knew when we went D1 this would be the case, it was only a matter of time!
The time is now for USD Coyotes, South Dakota's team!!
Can't wait for FB season, Mens BB and WBB going for a 3 peat in the Summit League!! Fight South Dakota

I was nervous the entire game sitting in the stands and I would have had a heart attack I think if the game would have been a little closer in that last minute. There were a couple of very monsterous three pointers towards the end. For all practical purposes the three pointer with 2:00 left to stretch the lead from 5 to 8 sealed the championship. There were many times that the Eagles just would not go away and the Coyotes always had a response. I am so happy for Tia Hemiller, she is such a Warrior and seems like a nice person and her all tourney selection was well deserved. Realistically could Nicole Seekamp have had a much better bonus season for the Coyotes. Just about everything that she could have dreamed of came true this year. Of course the NCAA's would have been great and no one would pass that up but how it turned out makes her one of the greatest legends in Coyote Sport history. As good as this team is it seems like Fogg is just one of those players that other team's simply cannot matchup with. She has great mid range touch and is difficult to stop when she gets it down low. A very good finisher and she had more valuable baskets today.
Just an awesome day to be a Coyote. Today just had a special feel and buzz about it and I would suppose that is an obvious statement. Might as well just implode the dome and build a new football stadium for the football team. After this today any encore will probably pale in comparison so why not just let the dome go out like this. Ok a bit of sarcasm so instead of saying good bye to the dome hopefully the football team will build on the mystique that the basketball team provided. Basketball will say good bye and what a way to wave fair well.
I gotta give credit to Florida Gulf Coast as they looked to me like the 2nd best team in the tourney. I thought the USD fans were very appreciative of their having to come all the way to Vermillion to play this game. I thought USD and the fans were classy towards them. Good job USD. Florida Gulf Coast just doesn't let a team get inside on them when penetrating. They block so many shots and just surround players when they get in the lane. The best play was trying to post them up and get the ball inside without penetrating. Getting it in to Fogg was a wise move. I think athletically the Eagles may have been more talented. I think the Coyotes play the best as a team and that is not to say they aren't plenty talented themselves but the Coyotes have made this run with togetherness and plenty of team work. Tons of grit. I have yet to look at the stats but it seemed like the Eagles had several lay ups and close in shots. I would have to say they probably had more points in the paint.
On a selfish note Villanova is one of my favorite major basketball teams and it's great to see them taking Oklahoma to the wood shed. I hope they finish the job especially if it's against North Carolina.

What an awesome day to be a Coyote! I was at the dome before the game started and watching all the red flood into their seats and thought back to a game I was at during the 09-10 season. It was the first season I attended Coyote games as I married into it. My husband's family had been attending Coyote events for almost 40 years at that point. It was a transition year so the Yotes were in the Great West. The game was a rescheduled game and the weather wasn't very nice. If you were to include all the team personnel and workers at the dome, there were still less than 200 people in the dome that night. I remember thinking wow this is division 1 basketball? Fast forward 6 years to today when there were over 7000 in the stands cheering their hearts out for the Coyotes and bringin home a championship. What a crazy journey it has been and it has been awesome to witness. I'm so proud to be a USD fan today and every other day as well. It's going to be fun to let this run sink in the next couple of days. I only hope this momentum carries not only the women's bball team moving forward but all the teams. These student athletes put their heart and souls into representing USD and they deserve all the support and encouragement we can possibly give them.

True to form, because ESPN has no vested interest in the WNIT National Championship game, they report nothing about it today, nothing I can find anyway.Shameful excuse for a sports reporting enterprise.I'll look elsewhere. If they had broadcast rights to the game you would hear something. They don't though and this doesn't draw much interest nationwide so they will give it nothing more than the scroll by on the bottom line.

Best 'kyle Reese" voice from the movie "Terminator" explaining to Sarah the dire situation they were up against ,much like the field of 64 found themselves in with USD in the field "You need to understand, this team will not stop ,it shows no compassion,it doesn't feel remorse,it simply will not stop....Ever,until it has captured The WNIT National Championship.....ever!!".....sorry,I like drama and good movies, besides WNIT Championships.Great day for USD for sure.

I was having dinner in Indy tonight on my way home and the NDSU softball team came in to eat as well. I was wearing my USD gear and every one of the ladies that came by the table asked how we did and were genuinely happy for our ladies. Granted these ladies were softball players, but they get it...we need to continue to have success with our various league teams in order to gain the respect we deserve. Great having these ladies from NDSU following our team.

Anyone know if the Athletic Department is going to put any of the great videos shown before and after the game on the website or youtube?
I can't get that song out of my head... "welcome to my house...." with the awesome video where the ball was glowing red and exploding when the girls hit those 3's. Frickin awesome pump-up video!

Congratulations Coyotes on a great win today and a WNIT championship! Also have out give a shout out to the Coyote fans for stepping up in a big way and supporting the ladies during their WNIT run. Now carry that momentum into next year and fill the dome and new arena for football and basketball season.

Obviously NDSU has had their fair share of success but it's nice from another conference team to be happy for a rival.

Wow. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on the WNIT Championship! That was just amazing. Congratulations to Nicole and Tia as well for making all tourney team. It's just amazing watching the whole team effort to get these wins. It's not always just about the scoring, but also all the other things like assists, rebounds, and defense that EVERYONE on this team contributes. This team has just been a blast to watch this year. Good luck to all the seniors in whatever comes next in your careers. I can't wait to see the returning players as well as the newcomers blend into another great team next year.
Now to all the fans that showed up to the game today, I challenge you to show up next year and buy season tickets for basketball in the new arena. Don't just show up for the Championship game and not again until it's another Championship game. Be there!

Don't just show up for the Championship game and not again until it's another Championship game. Be there! If this title and new facility don't spark a higher amount of season ticket holders for next year then nothing will. I know of at least one couple that has said they are committing to season tickets next year after only attending two games this year (WNIT semis and final). Gotta take this opportunity and build on it.

A lot of great shorts videos posted about the Lady Yotes season and WNIT run. It would be great if USD could compile a DVD with more footage! I for one would certainly buy it!!
An updated/better idea-- We have so many great student athletes in all sports that it would great to have an annual DVD highlighting all their accomplishments. Could start with the fall sports and run through the spring sports. Would be a great keepsake to bring back the memories over the years.

It is just like the Christmas & Easter church goers - you don't get them to come back by shaming them for coming in the first place. Let's welcome them in and make sure they know it is this fun all the time.
