Not surprising. Nebraska is getting the top coach from the Summit League. I can’t blame Williams for going back to her alma mater. I wish her great success in the future. Hopefully the signees will stay on board. I am guessing Herbster has been anticipating this and has candidates in mind already. Hope you're right. Need to start easing recruits' minds as soon as possible.

Congrats to Coach Williams. That is a major step up in her profession! I think we can agree that USD has a solid program (vs just a good year/player/coach). I'm looking forward to seeing who is handed the keys next in the impressive run of coaches/leaders.

A typical time line is interview will start in less than a week and a new coach will be in place in about 2 weeks. If it is an internal hire if could be quicker. The national letter of intent signing date is Wednesday of this week for any 2016 recruits that did not sign in the fall. Best wishes on hiring a coach that will continue building the strength of women's basketball in the Summit League. We are close to being a 2 bid league And want to see that happen. SDSU's women have always wanted to play the strongest schedule possible and that includes a strong USD team.

Congratulations to Amy. It was a heck of a run and one none of us that followed closely will soon forget. The last two Williams' and back to Lavin have really left this program in a great place. Herbster should have plenty of options moving forward with the Arena, returning roster, and improved fan base of the last few years. I know the jury is still out but Herbster seems to also be on his game in terms coaching hires.

I'd be stunned if they weren't already a week into this process. They weren't blindsided by her leaving.

So you would be stunned that 2 days after winning the WNIT that the coaching search should hadn't already begun. My gosh give the admin some time to gather their wits. The last thing we would want to do is leave the impression that we were shoving her out the door.

I would be surprised if Williams hadn't been contacted much sooner than you think. And I wouldn't be surprised if she let admin know that she had been contacted. Even if that wasn't true, a prepared AD would be five days into the process as the instant the Yori news became public this was a serious possibility even if you knew absolutely nothing beforehand.

Why wait until the Nebraska opening happened. Why not just hire the consulting firm a year ago and as soon as her replacement was found just not wait for her to leave, push her out the door first assuming she would be gone anyway. Sounds like a sound way to do business to me. Geez.

A prepared AD keeps a short list of potential coaches at hand at all times, especially in the higher profile sports. They should always have contacts and an idea of the landscape. That doesn't mean that the AD is actively looking but they need to be prepared for any event.

It is not so much pushing her out the door CF. The writing was pretty clear on the wall she would take her dream job if offered. A good AD has to be prepared for this type of thing.

Can't wait to hear what she is getting paid. I have heard some big numbers thrown around, but no media sources to confirm them yet.

Yori was making nearly $750,000 a year. I would imagine that Amy will make $300k to $400k minimum easily and possibly $500k. I don't think she makes what Yori made until she proves she can win on that level.

Well that sucks. Hate to see the SL lose a quality coach. Unfortunately it's a common problem for a mid-major.
