New Year's Eve we have a team playing SDSU on the road and at home. Thought we weren't going to have this issue anymore.

I was told by Herbster that this wasn't going to be an issue per the league office. I don't think it would as big of issue if our men were playing on the road against someone other than State.

Really sucks because one of the perks of the arena is how loud it can get. There won't be any students at that game That is good news for our MBB team playing in Brookings.

Not to pile on, but NYE is also the date for the CFB semi final games. I dont know how many fans this makes a difference for, but it may for some who can sit at home and watch both the basketball game and the CFB playoff games. head scratcher

I'm raising my hand to that. We were just talking in the office how awesome it is going to be to have the CFP on NYE on a Saturday this year. Going to be wall to wall football action for 3 days that weekend between the Bowls and the NFL on Sunday.

If I remember correctly, Midco also asked the league office to not schedule like this as it impacts their ability to broadcast all of the State/U games. So you have the ADs from 2 of your schools and your broadcast partner asking you to not do this and you still schedule this way?

I do not agree with this scheduling and will 90% not be attending either of those games.

In my opinion there are only three notable rivalry games between men's and women's in the Summit (USD-SDSU men, USD-SDSU women, SDSU-NDSU men), making for 6 total regular season games. Why on earth would the Summit League think that putting two of these games on the same day (New Years Eve of all days!) and in different towns was a good idea? That's sacrificing a hell of a lot of attendance numbers and revenue for seemingly no reason at all.

The only thing I can think of is spite. State/U games are the marquee games in the league, but it seems the league refuses to recognize that.
Unfortunately there will be power failures at The Den and Frost on NYE and those games will need to be rescheduled. At least if I am running USD or SDSU that is what would happen.

We had a good win over the Griz in Missoula two years back. I'll welcome seeing them on our schedule in any sport on a regular basis.
