IPFW pooped the bed in Brookings today. I hadn't watched SDSU play since our game against them, and holy crap do they have nothing outside of Daum. The guy did score 40+ today. If he ever goes down with an injury they might as well forfeit until he returns.
With the win they keep pace and remain just 1 game outside of the SL tournament field. IPFW drops to 3-4 and is among the five teams with 4 losses in SL play. USD sits in 2nd tied with Denver (that win @denver keeps looking better and better).

It looked like no one from IPFW was interested in playing today. Missing layups, dribbling off their foot, not making Daum dribble at all. I think they are reeling a bit.

What a surprise to see IPFW struggling like this. If we get Flack back at full strength this conference may be ours.

I can see second place as a possibility but the way NDSU has been playing they are big favorites to take the regular season title Flack of no Flack. The Coyotes will need to win the rematch in Fargo to have a legit chance.

YOTES by 11, 124-113.
Mike Daum scores 104 points (because he is the only player they have) but only plays defense (actual defense other than standing there and letting someone score to avoid fouls, because without him the bunnies wouldn't beat WAYNE STATE this year)on 2.5 possessions. Watching Daum play defense against Werner last night was embarrassing.
Scary thing is Daum is good enough on offense to score 104 points.

There are no tickets between the baselines left. I'd say 100-200 are left in the corners, then nearly all of the bleacher space behind the basket.

This will undoubtedly be the single funnest game to date in the new arena. The weather will be nice, the Coyotes are on a roll, an old rival for dinner. What else could you ask for. It will not be hard for the Coyotes to get up for this game. When the Yotes play with energy they are practically unbeatable in the Summit League.

This is actually kind of disappointing. I thought for sure we would sell this game out. In the DII days we drew way more than 5,000 for SDSU and we didn't even have that great of a place to watch basketball. I was really looking forward to seeing what the place looks like sold out. Are you seriously telling me that there will be about a 1,000 empty seats? There is no reason this game shouldn't be a sell out. Hopefully the student sections are full. Despite the loss last night, SDSU is playing much better than they were earlier in the year (when they beat us by the way). We're not going to be able to just show up and win this game. We won't have to play a great game, but we will have to play pretty good. Obviously the energy is going to be there, I just hope our shots are falling. I realize we won't shoot FT's as well as we did last night, but hopefully we don't see 50% either. It was huge to get some production out of Hagedorn last night. I believe that's the first time we have since Flack has returned.

The Jacks have an advantage with Daum and sometimes their shooters get hot from outside. That is about the only advantages I can think of that they have. The Coyotes are just the better team in many of the little things such as rebounding, hustle, defense and on and on. That is why even while shooting as well as they did that Fort Wayne could not beat the Coyotes on their home court. The Yotes just do the little things very well when they are playing well. When the Coyotes play with energy the Jacks won't be able to play with them. I don't think this game is close. My feeling is that the Coyotes feed off the crowd and the Jacks kind of crumble with the noise. This will be the first real test of how loud the SCSC can get and I would say at worst it will equal Frost but based on the structure of the arena will probably out do Frost by a hare.
This should remind fans how fun the WNIT was in it's late stages last year. The crowd willed the Coyotes to win that tourney and I think they will do the same on Saturday for the Men. It's too bad this isn't a double header. I see almost no avenue that leads to a Jacks win. They would have to be great from outside and/or Daum will have to be incredible. The Yotes energy on defense will be strong then what the Jacks will bring to that side of the floor.
I have thought about this for quite awhile but I am going 85-63 Coyotes with the last few minutes of the game really being nothing but garbage time. I would not be surprised if the lead got to as high as 25-30. I am that confident in how I think this game will go and I think everyone knows that I am not a homer when it comes to predictions. Before the last week I would have probably settled in the 12-15 point range but never did I have the Jacks within single digits in this one. I haven't been as confident in a Coyote win in this rivalry (mens hoops) since Randy Rosenquist was still sporting a Coyote jersey.

It looks like Coach Smith's plan to get the team playing well and in sync going in to the tournament has worked well. They are playing well in all phases of the game, and have enough depth to survive a bad game from a key player. But this is a rivalry game, so anything can happen.
But I think it will be Yotes big - over 15 pts.

How about Coyote fans each pool some money together and get on that -7 line before it is too late and then all those that went in on the pool can show up at the game and make sure that some ear drums get broken at the SCSC. I am so darn excited for tomorrow. We are going to see and hear the true potential of the new arena like it has never been seen or heard from before.
