I think part of A.J.'s decision to stay in Brookings involved family priority. That doesn't mean he won't leave Brookings, but it may take things more important than money and prestiger to hire him away. Money is always the main motivator. I find it hard to believe that had he been offered a pay increase of $300-$400k that Brookings was so enticing for him and his family that he wouldn't have moved his family. I am not saying he will never follow the money. I am merely suggesting that he may be more picky than some other coaches over which positions he might pursue. If that means waiting a year or more for the right option he might consider the wait to be worth it, based on values that don't have a dollar sign.

He's been waiting for ages and his program has definitely declined in the process. Four years since he had a regular season title I believe. Power conference programs are going to want to see someone who can coach their teams for more than a few games in March. I don't think a power conference team will take him at this point, and that must be what he is holding out for.

Yotes, AJ has been the most consistent coach in the conference and has a 22-2 record in the SLT. No one knows if he has had offers or if he would leave, but to say it's because he is unsuccessful is stretching it.

On the decline. He should've jumped when he could. . g Says a NDSU fan in a wbb thread? That's like a Cleveland Browns fan talking smack in a conversation between the Patriots and the Seahawks. Hey weren't you going to be done with the bison with UND joining the conference and all in on the goofs (with all their losing to my Badgers)?

I don't think a power conference team will take him at this point, and that must be what he is holding out for. So our program has declined? Here I thought USD's had gotten better. Who knew. AJ will have 4 top 100 recruits on the court next year. In the 2016 NCAA tourney his team was a basket away from the Sweet 16. With Miller on the court earlier this season his team was just outside the top 25 voting. He didn't have the depth this season to cover for Miller's absence and still ended the season with a top 40 RPI. Listen to him speak and all year you could hear it in his voice, he is excited about the incoming class and the future of the program. Becoming a P5 Women's BB coach as a man is not an easy thing to pull off. It has always been rumored that he would only leave the SDSU job for Minnesota who have shown that they will only look at Women. He seems pretty happy. He is making over $200K per year living in Brookings, SD. With TJ's new contract it is likely AJ is in for another raise, soon. He has kids who are growing up which makes it even harder to leave the area. He may leave eventually, but it would seem he is pretty happy right now.

Can't win a conference title. He's pretty consistent on getting into the big dance. I know you would rather make the NIT though right?

Power conference schools make their case for a bid during the regular season. Need a coach that can coach their team to a full season.

AJ is a great coach, but making the leap to a bad or desperate Power 5 conference team for a nice guaranteed bump trends to up-and-coming women coaches (like Amy); its less likely to happen for a male coach these days. If Jacks are REAL good next year, he may defy that trend.

Weren't they going to be the ones to end U-Conns winning streak in the nat title game. I know that wasn't said by any Jacks fans but I wouldn't put it past some of them to believe that.

I would rather prove you are the best team in the conference for the given year by winning the conference championship. Something the wabbits haven't done now in 4 years even though they are the model team. I know you would rather finish 2-4 in the conference every year though right?

Something the wabbits haven't done now in 4 years even though they are the model team. I know you would rather finish 2-4 in the conference every year though right? If we go to the NCAA and win a game or two hell yes. If I have to choose between 2nd-4th and that or 1st regular season and WNIT every year, yes. Doesn't mean I don't care about winning the conference, but if I have to choose between those two, I go with the first one every time and I would bet most of your fans would too if they are being honest with themselves. But hell, when we win the conference we've gone to the big dance every time except one, so there's that I spose. Wait tumped I thought sodakst was going to Super this year?? So now it's next year?? You know what my mother used to say "If its and buts were candy and nuts oh what a Merry Christmas we'd have".... Yeah, this year definitely didn't turn out how I thought it would. Sucks. For the second time ever we didn't make the NCAA tourney since we've been eligible. It's rough being a Jacks fan I tell ya. I mean, we had to struggle through an entire season where we didn't have at least one of the men's or women's teams in the Big Dance. That one was rough. Admittedly, we're going to get smoked this year, but hell it'll be fun up until top off and maybe a couple minutes into the game.

You mean Daum is not gonna carry you to the Final Four and an NCAA Championship all on his own? He never travels or fouls anyone... I think you guys have the best chance of winning the whole thing of any team dancing...
