That one was rough. Admittedly, we're going to get smoked this year, but hell it'll be fun up until top off and maybe a couple minutes into the game. What? You mean Daum is not gonna carry you to the Final Four and an NCAA Championship all on his own? He never travels or fouls anyone... I think you guys have the best chance of winning the whole thing of any team dancing... I knew you could work in crying about the refs in there somewhere. Proud of you!

I knew you could work in crying about the refs in there somewhere. Proud of you! It's true though. Ignorance is bliss... Right, because putting up under 30 points in a half had nothing to do with it.....and the yotes losing their aggressiveness was completely because of the refs and had nothing to do with being comfortable with a large lead and letting off the gas a little bit. Nope, blowing a lead of 13 points in the second half had nothing to do with the fact that absolutely nobody on the yotes produced any offense whatsoever all game outside of Mooneys 30 points, with the next highest scorer only having 10, while shooting a super impressive 60% from the free throw line and losing the rebounding battle. None of those factors mattered. Nope, not at all. And that 3 minute scoring drought for the yotes after they were up 13 points with 13 minutes left? 10000% the refs. Had nothing to do with the fact that the yotes had nobody taking the ball to the rack outside of Mooney, which maybe had to do with their lack of points AND not getting as many fouls. But refs, amirite guys?!?!?! Seriously, do you realize how pathetic it looks for your fanbase when not a single yote fan on here has brought up a single factor I just went through? Did the refs miss a call or make a bad call a couple times? Sure, both ways. Guess what, teams that win championships don't blow 13 point second half leads "because refs". This game came down to role players stepping up around the star, and SDSU had theirs step up like they hadn't all season and the yotes had them pull a disappearing act.

I'm pretty sure I and some other fans have mentioned the free throw shooting. Peterson makes just the 1st free throw and I think we win. Honestly, I'm getting tired of excuses. Yotes are probably a 5 point better team and shouldn't have even gotten to that point. Letting Howell back his way down easily for 4 straight buckets and Orris playing exceptional is what doomed the Yotes. They beat us. It's a game. It's over.

My bad, shouldn't have made such an all encompassing statement.

I must take a little exception with Howell backing down easily. Peterson tried to hold his ground but Howell just kept pushing him back (which you aren't allowed to do by the way). If Peterson would have held his ground any harder he would have been called for a foul. It was a tough position to be in. Our biggest mistake might have been still attacking the basket when it was clear they would not call a foul on State. We should have settled for more jumpers. What's the definition of insanity again? No excuses, when playing State in the SLT you know that you will need to be 10 points better. We were only 9 points better. If we don't like it, then be 10 or 11 points better than them next year.

Pretty defensive every time anyone makes a statement about it.

Part of the problem in the second half was that we made a lot of silly fouls (the first in the first 20 seconds)very early in the half. So they got to the double bonus fast. Also in the last 10 minutes our O was Mooney and Flack and virtually no one else looked like they were even considering taking a shot and state's D was so bad they still couldn't stop Mooney. Yotes played great D on Daum!Unfortunately state had more balanced scoring in the 2nd half. The refs weren't consistent on calling touch fouls evenly for both teams in the 2nd half. On the non touch side Daum once totally knocked over Hage in the second half and no call? With all this going on we still could have won with a couple of FTs in the second half. Intensive/exciting game unfortunately the better team didn't win.
