Could be a great get. Her mom was one of this state’s all-time greats and her dad was a great player in his own right. The genes are definitely there. If Kyah can adjust a bit to the pace of the college game and keep developing her skills she could be a very, very good player. Her mom might be one of the most underrated players in South Dakota history because of the college choice she made. She could have played anywhere. Every player has to make adjustments for college hoops, some just do it quicker than others. How much have you seen her play at Stevens? Strengths? I think we got a good one here. I've watched her a fair amount. She's got good size. Athletic. Can play inside or out at the high school level, everything from 1-5. Does a little bit of everything -- solid rebounder, ballhandler, more of an attacker than shooter at this point but her mechanics are good.
She's the type of player who very well may flourish as she gets better players around her, spreading things out a bit and also pushing her to up her game. All of the tangible stuff is there. She has a real chance to be a great player if she puts the work in and adjusts a bit to how hard she's going to have to play at that level.

Thanks! USD has had a tremendous amount of success with the Rapid girls and I hope this trend continues. Sounds like she will be ideal in Coach P's system.

Watched Kyah play crosstown rival RC Central last night. She lead RC Stevens with 13 points and was 3-6 from three. Stevens won 44-31 in a very physical game. She plays point guard and at 6' posts up too. Very good ball handler, passer, tough rebounder and athletic. She'll fit well in the Coyote offense!

Morgan Hansen nominated for SD POY. A nice Keloland piece on her: And more from that interview talking about USD: (she held an offer from SDSU as well)

Ok, The Minnesota Fury lists her at 6-4, but MaxPreps says 6-2, and another source says 6-1. I'd be happy with any of those heights, but I'll assume the Fury exaggerate a little. Anyone know anything about her? Here are some vids from MaxPreps:

This 2020 class is quite a hall. Great job of recruiting by this coaching staff!

Changes to open scholarships by class: 2017-2018 team
14 Scholarships(including 1 sitting transfer) one open scholarship2018-2019 team lose 3 seniors(Duffy/Trimboli/KLiv) lose one transfer(Bradley) add two freshmen(Sankey/Peplowski) add two walk-on freshmen(Shoenbeck/Terronez) three open scholarships2019-2020 team lose 1 senior(Arens) add three freshmen(Ugofsky/Guebert/Hempe) one open scholarship2020-2021 team lose 4 seniors(TayFred/Bonar/Duffy/Mac) add 2 Freshmen(Hansen/Krull) three open scholarships
I think that sometimes "extra" scholarships can be awarded to walk-ons retroactively, and on a year-to-year basis. If that's right, I could see Shoenbeck/Terronez getting them for just this season, and we would still have one open each year for a transfer. Also, I'm guessing we will add two more to the 2020 class. Bumping my old post... assuming Coach P likes to keep one schollie open, the 2020 class is done. Nice to lock things up early. Hansen, Krull, Watson, and now Mazurek. Great class!
