Coach P on Tulsa:
"Tulsa's a very athletic team, a team that really likes to throw the ball inside. Out of their last 180 possessions, 93 of them have had post touches involved in some way.
(They are) a team that really tries to get it around the rim. We're going to have to be very fundamentally sound defensively to take that away without fouling."

As long as the Coyotes play well as they usually do at home I expect a double digit win if not more like 20. The Yotes should be plenty rested and I think they win it 79-57 with defense being the name of the game. If the Coyotes played like they did for a good portion of the Indiana State game or play like they did against Stephen F Austin then Tulsa is certainly capable of winning but barely.

I wish my name was Shug Dickson. See if you can find the Jacks player.... Those are hilarious and I think there's another one too, but the funniest are the substitute teacher ones. Dan Smith ...BYU... classic!

I wish my name was Shug Dickson. I wish my girlfriend's name was Shug Dickson. I can't be charged with sexual harassment for saying that, can I?

This first quarter has led me to believe that I'm just not sure how good we can be this year with our two posts. Liveringhouse has some upside when she starts shooting well, but I think Frederich touches the ball 10 times a game and shoots 7 of those. It's frustrating because she has such a high potential, but her 3 shots this quarter illustrate what may happen against good teams. They'll just let the ball go into the post and know that she'll always shoot it. And our we struggle on the post on Defense too. I'm hopeful the coaches will help but I'm not sure when we play big teams our successful we can be. I guess we'll just have to hope that we shoot from the outside well in those games.

Coyote Glory you are right on. That was some pretty bad basketball that first half. There is no way that Tulsa should be leading this game. The Coyote offense looks very out of sync which has seemed to be a theme all year. The movement without the ball is not good. The passing is not good. Where is Jaycee Bradley this year. It seems like she has taken a step back. She is, or should I say was one of the best three point shooters last year. Why are the Coyotes not looking to free her up for some good looks from outside. I used to always see her take open threes and that almost never happens anymore. It is not all just simply the defense. The Coyotes are not working hard to get good shots. Allison is in ISO alot but honestly that isn't that bad of a thing because she does well getting to the rim and drawing fouls.
The whole atmosphere was flat for most of the half. I know people hate when I talk about attendance but it would be generous to say that there is 500 there today. Frederick simply needs to stop shooting. Many of her shots are not even close. Tulsa is no better than a mid level Summit team. Other then Duffy and McKeever I worry that our sophomore and freshman classes are for the most part weak. There is not one freshman that I have been impressed with so far.

Club room was full and better seating density on my side. Concourse was busy while I was counting.

There is not one freshman that I have been impressed with so far. I think you hit the issues spot on. We just don't have much movement (i.e., PASSING) and I'm not sure why that it is. I think someone said on this blog earlier that running the ball through Allison has hurt the movement. Duffy played point last year and it seemed to move a bit more so maybe that could help? But it definitely wasn't as bad last year. And as good as Arens is, the ball just doesn't move enough because she puts her head down when she dribbles. I also wonder if that's why Bradley hasn't gotten more looks. Simply not enough movement to get her open. I wonder maybe if the two freshman guards should get a chance. We've never seen them much in the normal flow of the game. But there are easy changes like the coaches telling Frederich to pass at least sometimes in the post. She's a good defender and rebounder but she hurts us too much offensively at times. I also agree about the atmosphere. I think a good atmosphere can breed more unselfish (just winning) play, so hopefully that changes moving forward.

Wow... do we look sloppy today... Just not a great game for us overall. Not sure what the solution is.
