Plitzuweit is very calm in the post game. Inside she has got to be just going nuts. Her team just played an awesome game tonight. Whoever it was that said that Dawn has had plenty of time to prepare for Western had it right on the bulls-eye. She did something very right. I wasn't able to listen to the post-game interview. Do you remember any of it?

Obviously a dominating road win by the Lady Yotes! As others have said great balanced scoring (and yes they are a very unselfish group), dominated O & D rebounds, forced 17 TOs, etc. Another very interesting stat is the Coyotes only had 5 FT attempts and WI 9 so either a very clean game or refs were really letting them play. Great win against a very good team! GO YOTES!!!

Offensive rebounds were huge in this game.
Duffy was 4/5 (O/D) Trimboli was 5/4
Both of them were one board away from double-doubles
We got 13 second-chance points to WIU's 0 We got 22 points off turnovers to WIU's 6
Trimboli had 5 steals!
Assist/Turnover ratio for our starters (Trimboli basically took Kate's place as a starter in this game) MadMac 7/1 (7.000) AArens 6/2 (3.000) CDuff 5/2 (2.500) JBrad 2/1 (2.000) JTrim 3/2 (1.500)
In this stat, our "Bulldog" sure looks like a point guard...

Thanks! One thing Dawn mentioned that I thought was interesting was that they scouted WIU really well, and identified the poor conversion defense that got the Yotes into trouble against WIU last year. They did a much better job of getting back and set on defense in this game, and it made a huge difference.

Do you remember any of it? John Thayer has podcasts of many of the post game comments from Dawn. Here is the link for it. It might take a day or two for it to be posted on his site. johncthayer.wordpress.com/podcast/The best thing I remember about it was that it was a very quick post game interview as I think they wanted to get on the bus and head back home. She was obviously pleased but fairly subdued considering the circumstances. I wish I can remember more.

Used to be a big fan of McKeever but I'm not a fan of her recent games where she's taking more shots than almost anyone else. The shots she's taking aren't good shots, and she gets blocked a lot. I would much rather Bradley be taking those shots and getting those minutes. McKeever needs to focus on being the high energy player we need. I'm worried that we'll lose out on her good aspects when she starts focusing more on taking lots of shots (8 this half). Besides that, I like the way we are playing this half. We are proving that we can do it with the best of them which is great for our confidence. Only thing I would say is that teams left her open a lot and sagged off her because she was the weakest shooter. I think she worked on her outside shot in the off-season and the only way to get them to respect your shot is to shoot it and make it in a game. She is improving and needs to have the confidence to let it fly when necessary.

Was there an earthquake last night? 82-58! WOW!!
A lot of season in front, but sure is nice to have a Road W at the defending champs house in the back pocket!
Nicely done!

I have been in a good mood since the game last night thanks to that performance. This changes the complexion for the rest of the year. WIU will be chasing this loss for the rest of the year and the Coyotes just got the biggest thievery of the Summit season men or women.

She's our best defender and that showed last night. But the logic in your statement is lacking. That's like saying, the only way to get someone to respect Shaq's 3 point shot is to have him shoot it more and make it in a game. The obvious alternative if you're shooting a low percentage is to shoot less of certain shots. Not have the confidence to shoot more, because that's what the defense wants. I simply think 13 shots, when 5 or 6 of them are contested/blocked shots, is too many for McKeever. But I am certainly not taking away from all the positive things she does for this team. Even if Duffy is our best player, McKeever is our motor on Defense.

In the end I think her shot has improved, she certainly isn’t the primary scorer, but needs to be able to make shots when clled upon. Hopefully she keeps improving.

Easmus, I think we're on the same page. I like when she takes the open 3 point shots because that opens up the defense. I just don't like the wild drives and pull up shots given her size.

I was doing some thinking about the Coyotes program and the game last night was a remarkable effort but what is even more remarkable is that this is the 20th straight year or good Women's Basketball at USD and people are still surprised that this program keeps winning. This team is still over looked after 20 straight year of DAMN GOOD BASKETBALL. People can make a case that football and Men's Basketball are a bit more surprising when they do well but there is really no excuse for people being surprised with our Women and that should have gone away over a decade ago.
Chad Lavin took over a bad program in 1998 and ever since Ryun Williams, Amy Williams and now Dawn Plitzuweit have followed. This is now 4 straight coaches that have all had success now. It is more than just irony, don't ya think media. It's really more of a local thing as well because people are so enamored with a certain team up north that they wouldn't know another good program if it bit them, let alone being bit by them 20 times in a row.
Of course a 24 point win at Western Illinois was unexpected but what wasn't was that the Coyotes were going to put up a good fight and that for the 20th straight year were going to fly under the radar. Not even a very impressive WNIT championship can change some people's minds. When Matt Zimmer was talking about the Summit Women's outlook he basically considered USD an after thought as it was all about WIU and SDSU and than everyone else. Sure the Coyotes haven't been playing their best but this team can keep staying motivated with the lack of respect card awhile longer.
