Yeah, I think this season will be a lot of fun, too. I do hope that the non-conference schedule is strong, because I predict some further separation between the SD schools and the rest of the Summit League. I could be wrong, but Omaha, ORU and WIU have lost some of their best players. Denver/UND/NDSU could surprise a SD team once in the season, but they won't over-take us in the standings. We will only have one senior (AA), but will still be an experienced group. This is Phase III of the Coach P era. 85% of this team has only been coached in college by her, so it's her system, her vision. I'll expect the defensive dominance to continue, as we have seen the results of that last year. We will have some added size with Hannah and the two Freshmen, Three very experienced guards in Ciara, Mad Mac and Allison, Lamb emerged last year as a competent and confident point guard, and there have been lots of minutes from the bench. We will miss Kate's leadership and the tenacious play of DPOY Junkyard Jas, but overall I think we have a net increase in player size, athleticism, experience and fit to system. Last year we lost a handful of Non-con games that we would have won at the end of the year. I would bet we win those types of games this year. I say this every year, but this could finally be the year the Summit gets two teams in the dance. It won't matter to us, though, since we will win the SLT.

Speaking of the SLT, I think the chess match between A.J. and Coach P will be the story of the season. We out-hustled and out-lasted a very talented and athletic Jacks squad in the regular season, but were out-coached in the SLT final IMHO.
As Gopheryote pointed out, A.J. always switches to a more tournament-friendly style at the end of the year. His girls adopt a more aggressive and physical defense, knowing the tournament games are officiated more loosely. We weren't prepared for that, and paid the price.
Both coaches are smart and experienced. I'm excited to see how each of them responds this year. It should be entertaining.

Frankly the second and third games were mirror images of each other. SDSU pounded it inside and exploited our lack of size using their high/low game. The main difference was that AJ didnāt have his 2 best players on the bench down the stretch in addition to our team starting cold and getting down 11-0. Played even after that the third game. Maybe AJ was testing his team down the stretch in Vermillion? Or maybe he just brain farted. But he got last laugh.

If Hannah starts and plays well, we will have some more physicality in the post, but I'm not sure if either of the big freshmen will get a lot of playing time. We will still be a little undersized overall. Likely we will use the same strategy. Who knows? lots of unknowns. I think the discipline level on both ends of the court should be excellent this year.

I think Sjerven size will help. They will remain committed to defense. I like our chances.

The Puerto Rico tournament will be interesting, coming right before the conference season starts. I know Indiana is not in the top of the Big 10, but as a power five it will be interesting to see how we do against them. I donāt know much about Grambling State or Loyola Marymount. For other non-conference, it would be nice if they could get a match up against Green Bay, as they are always ranked very highly for mid-majors. And maybe another, bigger P5 team, to see how we can compete against tougher competition, as well as to emphasize where we need to improve. It will be interesting to see the schedule, now that Coach P can use her connections rather than having to go with prior commitments from the old administration.

I can think of one recent WBB tweet that they should re-tweet........ If this photo is any indication of the "gains" being made in the Coyote gym in the off-season, I think we can be optimistic about all of our athletic programs. Especially power-heavy sports like football.

Well I havenāt seen anything on that particular Twitter account, I have seen quite a few postings this summer on the snap stories on Snapchat. In addition, on Instagram they have a few posts from the weight room. I donāt know how to link posts from IG to here, but there were some nice ones in June. (I personally like the little video that was posted on Instagram on June 28... ā¤ļøšā¤ļø)

No inside info from me, but I can tell you that the basketball schedule has been announced in late August every year over the last several years, so that must be our Athletic Department's M.O. Maybe another week?
