We are cold from 3. Drake has a bunch of back door layups. Hopefully we can hear up here.

Big shot by Maddie at the buzzer. Down by 15 at one time, now by 6 at half. Last 5 minutes we looked like the real Coyotes

We sometimes have too many cooks in the kitchen on offense. We ended up looking better with Corngable and Bonar.

They're lucky they're not down 25. Not going to win many games shooting 16 percent from 3 and getting to the line four times.

I'll first say that I praised Dawn for her coaching that first game. I thought we looked great and she did a great job coaching. But we play only 6-7 "tough" games per year, and this game, like several over the past few years, makes me frustrated.
I'm sure many posters will call this an overreaction, but if you look at my prior posts over the past few years, you'll realize it's par for the course. Here's my takeaways that Dawn must solve:
1. Arens and McKeever don't play well in big games. They make about 30-40 drives per game, but they are small and pass out maybe once or twice per game in those drives and only when guarded. They don't see the floor. And because they are not good passers, our offense stagnates. Our best passer might be Taylor. 2. Duffy disappears for long stretches. 3. Monica Arens is a great rebounder and not a great shooter, per the statistics. But Dawn doesn't seem to see this. She still takes 30 foot threes. 4. We run zero isolations for Lamb, so she can never get going. I would like to see her in more pick N rolls.
To people who point to games where this isn't true, I agree. We mostly play teams we can kill. So it's easy to look good. I'm talking about games like SDSU and others where Dawn must be a better coach for our half court offense as I pointed out yesterday (and which did come true).
And hopefully people realize that this team IS really good but I think that we could be great with some minor changes.

There needs to be more of an understanding of who needs to be attacking and from where against good teams. And who doesn't. They looked like they had no idea what they were trying to accomplish on the offensive end tonight. And that's before you even get to the other end where you're giving up backdoor layups and uncontested 3s. With what's going on in Brookings right now with Creighton it looks like maybe the excitement after the first two games was a little premature.

I’m not a basketball guy per say, but I do have to say I think you need to pump the brakes just a little. Tonight’s game evolved into a big game by the media about two mid major powers to be. It’s possible the gals were nervous because obviously they didn’t shoot well. I’d guess if we played drake 10 times we’d probably win 2 or 3. They are a really good team I feel.
Regarding the comment about our schedule, I think Coach P. has a tough schedule. We play a number of very good teams. Sure, we have a couple of putzes, so do all schools. I might be wrong, but I think we’re gonna win the Summit again. And all this hype crap about SDSU, heck they haven’t won the league in what...4 or 5 years? Quit giving them the podium. They don’t deserve it.

I agree that if you're content with Drake beating you 8 out of 10 times, then everything is fine.

I’m not content I’m just saying that’s how I see it. I want to win as much as anyone on this board, all sports...but sometimes reality sets in.
For the record, I didn’t argue with the criticism and the points that were made. You guys are probably right. But to take a snapshot a one point in time in my opinion doesn’t reflect the season. If it did then in football we would be 15 point favorites over Oklahoma State because we only lost to kansas state by 3.
Until SDSU, or anyone else for that matter beat us and claim the Summit League title, we are the defending champs. All I’m saying is I personally don’t think it’s time to panic because we have a good team.

Nobody's panicking, I don't think ... coyoteglory said the team is really good in his post. It just could be better and the issues it runs into against good, smart, well-coached teams tend to resurface.
Coach P's a great coach and this team has some real talent. They're just feeling out how to best utilize it but I'm confident they will.

That said, there is no reason that you should have a 6-foot-1 first-team all-Summit League player who hasn't shot a free throw in three games. That's a failure on a lot of levels.

Panic? I don’t think so. If we make just 4 more 3 pts shots, it a whole new game. We won’t be pressing our shots at the end. And I think Hannah will fit in just fine with this team.

Well, crap. That’s a good point about figuring things out. Really, that’s the main purpose of the non conference schedule, at the end of the day. Boosting RPI is just a side benefit.
Some famous person once said: you learn more from a loss than a win..... or something like that, anyway. I hope that famous person was right.

Didn't get to watch the game yet. Sounds like from what posters have said is Drake is very good which we knew going. From the game summary they have a veteran team with a number of seniors. I think we have one senior. Coach P and the Lady Yotes will learn a lot from this game. As one of my favorite sports sayings goes "You're never as good as you think you are when you win or as bad as you think you are when you lose."
