Big match up on Thursday night in Des Moines. Drake was a perfect 18-0 in MVC play in both the 16-17 season and 17-18 season. They have already beat the Huskers this year.
For anyone going to the game I saw this on the Drake message board "Home opener on Thursday at 6:00 PM. If you go to draketix.com/promo and enter code DOLLAR you can get a ticket for $2 ($1 ticket + $1 processing fee). Banner will be raised. If you can't make it in person, the game will also be available on ESPN+. "

Massey gives us a 41% chance of winning, and a typical score of 72-76. I think they will be a tougher challenge than Creighton, but definitely not insurmountable. I really hope they underestimate us. Sounds like a great value for any Yote fans living in central Iowa! And I'm happy to stream it on my TV on ESPN3 instead of my phone.
Drake may be the Bulldogs, but we have a pestering pack of Coyotes to unleash.

What I’m surprised at is the fact that we are playing as if we were in mid season form. I’m not surprised we beat Creighton but I am a little surprised in the easy manner in which we did it. If how we are playing right now is the worst it’s gonna be because we’re going to get a lot better, then holy cow, we have lightening in a bottle. They just look so fluid.
On top of that, they are about the nicest bunch of young ladies I’ve ever been around. Kudos to Coach P and her staff. This team deserves our support whether you’re a big women’s basketball fan or not. It’s just the right thing to do. They are something else in more ways than one.

Completely agree.
We knew they could shoot, but the overall athleticism, teamwork and defense has been impressive. They don't look like a team that is going to get overwhelmed physically by very many teams.

I think the biggest surprise for me, echoing some of the above posters, is that we look much more athletic in the frontcourt. Last year, it seemed like other teams controlled the glass against us. But with Hannah and Taylor, we look much more formidable in that department.
Although I will admit that I'm still skeptical of our ability to score in the half-court in close games against good defensive teams a la last year. Here's to hoping I'm wrong.

We talk about the Summit getting to two bids, this is one of those games we need to win to move towards that. Winning at the team that has swept the MVC two years running would be a big one.

I feel like that's a legit concern but it also seems like, just from the first two games obviously, that the addition of Sjerven and the evolution of both Frederick and Duffy on the block is going to give this team some options when games grind to a halt that maybe they didn't have last year.
I think it's a great sign for this team's future offensive prospects that its leading scorer from last year has taken 11 shots in two games.

The last line is a great point. Creighton was a quality opponent no matter how you slice it and Duffy really didn't need to score (don't think a player has to be the big scorer to be a game mvp) and could concentrate on all the little things that can bring out the best in everyone else. Don't know if that was the case last year. She is more than capable of taking over a game if need be, but it seems to me in the small sample size that is this season there're a lot more options offensively.

Defense and rebounding has been atrocious.
