Feb 25 Update: RPI---------(Massey) 28 SDSU----(26)33 USD------(29)160 Denver-(166) 166 ORU----(146) 235 WIU----(221)\/ 250 UND----(231)\/ 317 NDSU--(292) 321 Omaha-(305) 334 PFW----(313) Mar 4 Update: RPI---------(Massey) 28 SDSU----(27) 37 USD------(29)158 Denver-(161) 168 ORU----(143) 226 WIU----(221)^ 239 UND----(225)^ 319 Omaha-(301) 323 NDSU--(297) 334 PFW----(312) Looks like playing NDSU and UND dropped our RPI a few notches. We are definitely not bullet-proof, and shouldn't assume anything. I feel pretty good about our chances to get to the championship game, though. That alone would pull our RPI back up a bit. Just keep winning.

Here are my thoughts on the possible scenarios from SLT action.
Scenarios:
We lose to NDSU: Probably have an RPI of around 43 and are out. (though I can still see a scenario where other bubble teams lose and we get in) We lose to Denver in 2nd round: Probably have an RPI of around 46 and maybe out. I would put the chances at 50/50. We lose to SDSU in title game: Probably in as a 9-11 seed. We beat SDSU in title game: Probably in as a 6-8 seed.

^^ i'd agree with you, except I would pull the extremes in on both ends. I don't think we would get a 6-seed despite what Creme says. I also don't see our RPI dropping as low as 46. It's possible, I guess. I think the odds of us going to the title game are pretty high. probably 9-of-10 or better. Beating State might be a 50/50 deal.
Another thing is the number of at-large bids available. That's pretty random. Root for the High-RPI teams to win their conferences. I'll make a list...

Looks like the Power-5 conferences will be getting 5 to 8 teams in, so an upset champion outside of those teams stealing an at-large seems not very likely.
The American and Big East are often lumped with the Power-5, but Charlie C only gives them 2-bids each this year.
The MAC, WCC and the Summit are the mid-major conferences with multiple bids (2 each)
Root for: Gonzaga (WCC), Drake (MVC), Marquette (Big East), and Central Michigan (MAC) to win their tournaments. The MAC could be particularly dangerous, with Buffalo, Ohio and Miami-Ohio all in the bubble range...

Tennessee is playing #5 Mississipi State at 11AM today. Tennessee is a bubble team, so we want them to lose.
Indiana is playing #10 Iowa at 5:30 tonight. Indy is a bubble team, so we want them to lose. (yes they affect our RPI, but the # of at-large bids is now more important)

Tennessee & Indiana both lost today, along with Michigan State and 20th Ranked AZ State.

Missouri upset #13 Kentucky. Which doesn’t affect the bubble but could help offset Indiana losing in RPI.

Playing the RPI anchor teams dropped both SD teams’ ranks a little.
32 SDSU (-4) 38 USD (-1)
Gotta get to the championship game for the boost (or better yet, the trophy)

Arkansas (10-seed) trying to steal an SEC title today from Mississippi State. Not good.

Arkansas (10-seed) trying to steal an SEC title today from Mississippi State. Not good. As finalists in the SEC tourney, I would think they'd both be in anyway.

Arkansas got pasted by 31 in the Finals by Mississippi State. That should help our case a bit.
