Congrats! USD is having a great season this year and they should be even better (probably) next year.

We seem to be getting the most respect from Laramie, Corvallis and Waterbury (Conn?), but oddly, none from Ames, Iowa who manages to vote for the hometown Cyclones at #16. The voter from the Register Guard, wherever that is, shows some Summit love by voting for both us and State.
Just checked...Eugene, Oregon. That makes sense.

So does Mizzou's win over Mississippi State help the RPI, Kiyoat?

So does Mizzou's win over Mississippi State help the RPI, Kiyoat? Definitely. Taking a quick glance at RealtimeRpi.com we just jumped from #40 to #38. That may not seem like a lot, but it is the first positive movement in a while. With our Summit schedule we had been on a long gradual backslide. We will get another boost just by playing SDSU again. Even assuming a loss we should get back to the mid-30’s. Win it and we are golden.

We want to get to that game, win or lose.

Looks like Charlie took notice. He doesn't tweet much.

Feb 11 Update: RPI---------(Massey) 28 SDSU----(31)39 USD------(30)169 Denver-(165) 176 ORU----( 161) 214 WIU----( 203)^^ 224 UND----(215) 315 Omaha-(305) 319 NDSU--(287)\/ 334 PFW----(309) Feb 18 Update: RPI---------(Massey) 32 SDSU----(28) 33 USD------(27)
170 ORU----(151) 172 Denver-(168) 219 WIU----(211) 238 UND----(232)\/ 315 Omaha-(302) 320 NDSU--(294) 335 PFW----(315) Some significant narrowing of both RPI and Massey between the SD schools. WIU has the #3 schedule strength in the conference, so I think that helped boost the Coyote's RPI. After this weekend, both SD teams will get a SOS boost, win or lose. I have a strong suspicion that the loser of Sunday's game will be playing Oral Roberts in the 2nd round. For all of you old timers:

"May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits". RPI looking pretty good. Hope it helps in the end. Regardless of this weekends' result if both USD and SDSU run the table in other games and meet in the conference finals, there simply is no justification for keeping either team out of the NCAAs. Stay tuned.

Updated (and impressive-looking) College Insiders Poll. I've officially moved from 'all the recognition is well deserved and helps get an at-large' to 'OK - that's enough - let's just let the ladies play basketball without all the extra pressure'.

Yeah. It is well-deserved, but it's kind-of crazy how so many in the national sports media suddenly start paying attention when you cross that magical imaginary line of the top 25 rankings. We didn't even get this much recognition at the end of the 2016 WNIT championship, or the conference sweep last year. Both of those accomplishments were considerably more difficult, in terms of maintaining consistency.
If we had this year's non-con schedule in the 2016 or 2018 seasons, I think it would have made a massive difference in both RPI and national recognition. Gotta play the game to win. Don't hate the player, hate the game, *insert another lame sports analogy*... etc.

I don't know that this team is much better than what we've had in recent memory, but the scheduling has worked out in our favor. I can only dream where we'd be ranked without that disappointing loss at Denver.

I'd argue that the length and versatility of Sjerven and Duffy make this a more dangerous team to high-level teams.

I think Sjerven is the one that finally gets USD over the hump in March
