DePaul lost to Marquette. Missouri beat Auburn. Maybe Missouri who lost to us in their house?

Jan 21 Update: RPI---------(Massey) 24 USD------(30)25 SDSU----(33)149 Denver-(143) 168 ORU----(166) 218 UND----(214)\/ 235 WIU----(229) 302 Omaha-(280) 310 NDSU--(269) 338 PFW----(327) Feb 4 Update: RPI---------(Massey) 27 SDSU----(31)36 USD------(28)\/169 Denver-(162)\/ 184 ORU----(171)\/ 232 UND----(223)\/ 236 WIU----(225) 305 NDSU--(281) 311 Omaha-(295) 331 PFW----(303) It's been 2 weeks since I've updated this, and the only major development was the Jacks pulling ahead of USD in RPI. While it has been nice to see the Yotes ahead of the Jacks in all the polls and rankings, this is the one ranking where the Jack's more difficult non-con makes the biggest difference. Why has it taken this long for the Jacks to pull ahead? The only answer I have is that their non-con opponents must be winning more games than our non-con opponents lately. Right now RealtimeRPI.com has the Jack's schedule ranked at #53 and ours is #152. Here are our lowest performers, from a W/L perspective: 2-18 Incarnate Word -#327 RPI 9-12 Wichita State ---#262 RPI 9-11 Grambling State #182 RPI 9-9 Montana ----------#142 RPI 10-12 Creighton ------#106 RPI 12-10 Loyola Mrymt---#107 RPI Incarnate Word can just stay off the schedule, IMO. Grambling and Loyola were a package deal with Indiana, so it's hard to avoid. But Wichita, Creighton and Montana are regional teams that are normally better than this. They are just letting us down this year. Funny thing is, most of these teams would be competitive in the Summit.

That's about as close as you can get without getting the nod. If you look at the voters, it appears the regional voters tend to vote for more mid-majors, but the ESPN/National types favor P5 - which is what they cover.

Probably mad at the entire state of South Dakota because neither their men's nor women's basketball teams can beat either the 'yotes or bunnies. Maybe the Goofers should give Dakota State a try.

Only gained 7 votes, but we've got 10 people voting for us now. That's up from 5 voters last week. Hopefully breaking onto five more ballots will generate some steam towards a top 25 appearance next week.

Thought the coaches would be smarter, to be honest. I like the 'Yotes chances against just about anybody outside the top 10 on a neutral floor.

While the team is scoring more points, allowing few points and holding their opponents to a much lower shooting percentage. There are two true difference makers for this year's team. They have both a true inside and outside presence (on both offense and defense) and the mental strength to not get rattled when they get behind. They just keep pressing forward to get a victory. You simply can't teach that!!!

Top 25 watch:
#22 Iowa State - Play WVU @6 today. #23 Michigan State - Lost at #16 Iowa #24 Florida State - Defeated #9 NC State. Play #4 Notre Dame tomorrow. #25 Miami - Defeated #4 Notre Dame. #26 USD #27 North Carolina - Lost to Duke. Play Clemson tomorrow. #28 UCF - Leading SMU by 7 at end of 3rd #29 Missouri - Defeated #18 Texas A&M. Play Vanderbilt tomorrow.
Miami was the only team in the top 25 that we were close to, and they are going to leave us in the dust now.
I doubt Michigan State falls out after a loss to a higher ranked team.
Missouri might pass us again. I think we are looking at another week at 26, maybe 27.

Feb 4 Update: RPI---------(Massey) 27 SDSU----(31)36 USD------(28)\/169 Denver-(162)\/ 184 ORU----(171)\/ 232 UND----(223)\/ 236 WIU----(225) 305 NDSU--(281) 311 Omaha-(295) 331 PFW----(303) Feb 11 Update: RPI---------(Massey) 28 SDSU----(31)39 USD------(30)169 Denver-(165) 176 ORU----( 161) 214 WIU----( 203)^^ 224 UND----(215) 315 Omaha-(305) 319 NDSU--(287)\/ 334 PFW----(309) So the three tiers have solidified even more. There is a clear top, middle and bottom. Western has made up some ground in RPI, and they are currently solidly in 3rd in standings. Another road challenge for the women awaits in Macomb on Saturday. The Massey poll has both SD teams solidly in at-large status, and neck-and-neck. I think that's a good assessment. The RPI ranking is lower for every team in the Summit (but SDSU). Not a surprise.
