The difficult part of the playoff scenario is who has to provide the help. NDSU would need to beat SDSU and that match is in Fargo. A tough match and SD State seems to be reeling a bit right now. If SDSU wins, they have 9 wins and should be in. Oakland already has 8 wins so would need to lose a match to 8th place Western Illinois as well as their IUPUI match. Also, UMKC has 8 wins and their last match is against Omaha, currently in last place with 1 league win.
Anything can happen, but the odds are certainly not in the Yotes favor. That is too bad because these ladies are playing as well as anyone in the conference right now.

The Coyotes are in a 5 set barnburner at Omaha right now. After trailing 4-1 the Yotes have come back to take the lead 15-9. The Yotes could complete a miracle come from behind run to make the conference tourney but the hardest part is Oakland losing to Western Illinois tonight. I believe the Leathernecks are only 4-11 in conference games, compared to 8-7 for Oakland.

Oops I forgot that they only go to 15 in the final set. Yotes win 3-2 after trailing 2 sets to 1. Now it's waiting the outcome of the OU vs WIU game.

It sure would be nice to catch a break as it has been a rough year all arong for Coyote Athletics. The way things have been going with our luck WIU probably won't give us much of a break tonight.

Western Illinois pulls it off 26-24 after trailing 20-17. The Coyotes are still alive. A short 5th set will decide the Coyotes fate. Is their actually a god looking over Coyote Athletics afterall or is this just furthering the torture that Coyote Fans often have to endure.

Well I guess we are jinxed afterall. The live scoring now has Oakland winning the 4th set 27-25. Match over and the Coyotes torture continues.
Oakland wins the match 3-1 eliminating the Coyotes and ending their season. Last year the Yotes finished 7-11 in the conference and this year were 8-8. The Yotes simply dug themselves too big of a hole and played like crap for alot of the season. Houk is not bad but not the great coach people make him out to be unless wins and losses isn't what you measure success by.
The Yotes were about the same as last year which is not what a team that has a veteran presence is supposed to do. I am not calling Houk crappy I am just not calling him very good either. He is simply average but at USD average is actually great according to many so what do I know.
I doubt this program in any sport is gonna catch many breaks this year. Their is a black cloud over Vermillion when it comes to athletics recently and for the most part more often than not.

No, i disagree, Matt is an excellent coach and will continue to do well in the Summit League. The team struggled with a few matches in a row, got out of system, tried to mix & match with the offense, but eventually got back to what made them successful last year. And we saw the run they put together. Frustrating that 1 loss seals their fate, but give credit where credit is due, they were the league's hottest team down the stretch.
Only 3 seniors, including Kim Bulaga who played the most of the 3. I really liked what our freshmen did. The future is bright

What intangible thing has Houk done that makes him an excellent coach. I am not claiming to really know but all I do know is that the Coyotes have been mediocre under him. Or are we saying he is excellent for another reason. I am confused here. 7-11 followed by 8-8 with no post season appearances does not hint excellence to me.
When are Coyote fans going to start rating teams on actual wins and losses. Maybe he is a great guy to meet or has an infectious personality but that does not make him a great coach.
Just exactly what kind of standards do we have. I must have a different set than most.
