You are a fool if you don't think the transition hurt recruiting depth leading up to now. In all sports.

You are a fool if you don't think the transition hurt recruiting depth leading up to now. In all sports. That could be used 3 or 4 years ago but not this year. Again why do we have to judge ourselves to difference standards than SDSU and NDSU. I would say both of their entire athletic programs transitioned to the point where they were ready from year one of eligibility in most programs to be good. Not the case with USD. In many sports we are no better off now than during year 1 or 2 of transition. For whatever reason maybe we just don't have the same learning curve as the schools up north. We allow ourselves to be swallowed up by excuses here. What is sad is that our best coach Ryun Williams who is a USD grad jumped ship. What does that tell you. Maybe he knew something the rest of us don't know. SDSU's women's coach didn't jump ship because when he was about to he realised he just couldn't leave what they had going on at SDSU. What sport can we say that about aside from pole vaulting at SD.

What intangible thing has Houk done that makes him an excellent coach. I am not claiming to really know but all I do know is that the Coyotes have been mediocre under him. Or are we saying he is excellent for another reason. I am confused here. 7-11 followed by 8-8 with no post season appearances does not hint excellence to me. When are Coyote fans going to start rating teams on actual wins and losses. Maybe he is a great guy to meet or has an infectious personality but that does not make him a great coach. Just exactly what kind of standards do we have. I must have a different set than most. Here are some standards for you. The Coyotes play in a make-shift volleyball "arena." AKA, they are stuck in the attic and have NEVER had a play to play volleyball. The fact that Houk has been able to even recruit players to USD is amazing. Just think if the football team had to play on a makeshift football field or the basketball team was playing in the armory for every home game so barely any fans could go. What do you think that would do to recruiting? The team had a come-to-Jesus meeting that helped them turn it around. I would expect this team to compete for a Summit League title next year, and considering they don't have a place to really play, that's pretty amazing.

What sport can we say that about aside from pole vaulting at SD. He doubled his total compensation at Colorado State and was able to pay his top assistant as much money as he made as USD's head coach last year. Easy decision.

States men's BB won 13 games their first year of eligibility and if you watched their game against Alabama, their 3rd leading scorer had 7 points. USD is on schedule! Quit bitching and drum up support!

Not related to sports but could be a correlation somewhere in this thread....

Albert Einstein Care to elaborate on those comments exactly who you are talking about. I am assuming by those comments that you are considering someone stupid on this thread and perhaps other(s) that are geniuses.

Lighten up cf, the only thing that should matter is where you think you fall on the stupid v. genius scale.
