The part about recruiting that concerns most USD fans is that some of the NDSU recruits have not even been on USD's radar. How does this happen?

Could be recruiting some different areas. USD is going into Colorado and Oklahoma right now, and North Dakota is able to get some good Minnesota kids if I am correct and has gotten some good SD kids too. Yes, USD should be getting them, but have to build up a Division I program first and compete, then you get those kids.

Don't be too sure...Luke Worden was recruited by NDSU, they visited him at school this fall, he went to their camp and they called him often. In the end they said they were not going to offer a corner but Luke was top guy at that position. A lot of the guys at the NDSU camp were the same guys being recruited by USD. Luke went to Montana State camp as well. USD was his top choice of any FCS school at the end of the summer camp/visits. USD has a lot of positive things happening right now...

Don't put a ton of stock into some "check the box" thing that shows up on an ESPN or Rivals recruiting profile. Outside of the FBS recruits, they do a very poor job of continuing to stay in contact with kids or continuing to collect information. One of the best is the Nebraska Rivals staff, but that is simply because of the communal aspect of Nebraska and the consideration for their walk-on program.

Proud Dad, Loved the old school NFL music synched up with your son's high-lights. I kept expecting to see a shot of John Madden or Lombardi on the side-lines to pop up. Good stuff and I agree with previous commenters, we have some very good things happening at USD right now. We need more people to continue to join the Howling Pack so we can continue those good things by making facility improvements, providing scholarships to athletes, etc... Our membership numbers were terrific for 2012 and should be even higher in 2013.

Is the glass half full or half empty? Sounds like many of the people commenting believe USD is getting some great kids. If some of these kids are as good as they are made out to be, they might be playing right away as true freshmen.
Is anything being done on special teams? There were a number of punts blocked last Fall, any news recruiting there?

as for the special teams question... My son is excited to be the new Coyote PK/P. He is an all-american from Colorado. He had two FBS offers and one other offer from FCS. He wanted to start right away. He loved Coach Glenn and the school. That is why he is a yote. We can't wait to attend some games. His video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=naCT6EbQ904&feature=youtu.be

I was aware of that signing - should be great. Who is going to be snapping to him and will they go to the spread formation or not?

If you mute the music on that video and instead play Crazy Train, it's almost like you can picture Miles kicking in the Dome......

Look forward to him being a Coyote.

I know there was an article a while back that stated when the next waive of official visitors would be coming to Vermillion. Does anybody remember what that date was? This weekend or next, I would have to imagine.
Even though campus will be dead without class being in session on Saturday, it would be a great recruiting tool to be able to get the recruits to the SDSU game and see a (nearly) full Dakota Dome.

There is a recruiting dead period from Dec 17-Jan 03, so I'm sure the coaching staff will take this weekend and use it to our advantage for recruiting.
