Our record sucks, but for crying out loud coyote fan you act like we lose every game by 30. We lost 5 of 7 conference games by 7 or less points. Penalties and some bonehead plays are costing us those games. What happened to the day when a player had accountability for a stupid penalty - like having to get up at 5am and run, run and run some more. Or is that one of those old school tactics that "kids these days" don't relate to. One of the major points that I have always brought up that is very relevant again this year is that those things that you have talked about as far as penalties, undisciplines football and close losses have haunted this program for years. I would agree with you if those things were isolated cases but they are the face of Coyote football. That is where the problem lies. People always talk about those issues and those issues never get corrected.

As much as some may disagree with my philosophies we do have some common ground, we all want the Coyotes to start playing winning football very badly. We just have different ideas and opinions about how that will hopefully come to be.

A couple of quick points, and then I'm done with this thread. It's been a long, frustrating season for all of us. We do not have the caliber of program (yet) where we simply "reload." Consider conditions heading into the season: loads of lost starters, new coach (with none of his recruits), first season in a much tougher conference, etc. Three to five wins was probably a reasonable expectation. We've come painfully close to that mark, which is why I'm not wholly disappointed in the outcome of the season. Glenn is bringing an elevated level of integrity to the program, and I'm quite okay with that. Ed is not coming back, so I think we get behind our first-year head coach and see what he can do.
An aside: JVM was not our problem Saturday. We had 400 yards of offense, and he was personally responsible for 340 yards of it.

I will give a bright point that hasn't really been brought up before. One of my hopes going into the season was the the Coyotes wouldn't have such a disparity of how they play at home vs on the road. That has actually happened despite not getting any scholarship wins. We have been blown out once at home (SF) and once on the road and have played 2 close games at home and 2 close games on the road. So if their is progression that is one area we have seen it.
Assuming Glenn is here next year and assuming the Coyotes can win at least 2 conference games I think we may see one of those happen in an away game.

Coyotefan - wow, a somewhat positive post. I knew you could do it!! I may not - check - do not always agree with you but I read your posts.
I hope you don't take this personally, just a slight poke.
One question, if you or someone has the time: Is USD the most penalized team in the MVFC? It is my contention that bonehead plays are most remembered when a team loses.

I have always been an equal opportunity poster. When teams deserve a kick in the butt I give it. The football team definately deserves that and has deserved that quite a bit over recent years. I gave the mens basketball team quite a bit of credit when it is deserved as well. Same goes for the Women's team. I don't really comment much on the other sports but neither does anyone else. I have a question for everyone reading. Be honest with this answer and think about it before posting and don't post based on what you read from others but from your own opinion After a season such as this how much does the football team, head coach and administration deserve as far as backlash. Should the team get no backlash, a little backlash or quite a bit of backlast from fans, boosters, alumni etc. I won't comment until other have had a chance.

Their basketball team has made the NCAA tourney and the Women are now annual participants. Ummmm..... Nagy did not exactly have success during his early Division 1 years.

At USD do we really believe we are just about at that level. Not a chance. SDSU is going to go 5-0 against the Yotes in the big 3 sports this year. If not 4-1 at worst. How can people continually have patience with this football program. When are we as a fanbase ever going to expect winning NOW, NOW, NOW instead of 2 or 3 years down the road which is always when USD will finally be competitive. Well 2 or 3 years from now is here and passed and still the football program is going sideways or backwards. Lets face it USD must be cursed. Maybe no head coach can win at USD and we will just have to accept that. I'm not a USD fan but I thought they would be rebuilding in the 3 main sports this year. Your football team lost a lot (what 23 players?). Even with the schedule you had last year this year would have been tough. You put a new coach in there who hasn't had time to recruit a full class, let alone 3 or 4 and that just adds to it. In football especially, you normally redshirt everybody. You are playing a tougher schedule with only 4 home games(I don't think it mattered about the 5th), a new coach and a ton of player turnover and it's tough. I thought that your women's basketball team would have met SDSU in the championship game of the tournament last year if they were eligible. They lost probably their 3 best players but Hegge was the toughest to lose. She could have/should have been the player of the year in the conference. Your coach picked the right time to jump ship. His stock would have dropped after this year(my opinion) and the offers wouldn't have been as good. Again, you lost a lot and have a new coach. It should be quicker for the basketball team to recover because you don't need to redshirt players and the pool of good WBB players is hugh in this area. The mens basketball team lost a lot but they do have their best player back and they have the same coach. Losing over half of your starters might be tough to replace but I think they have some juco's don't they? SDSU has a volleyball coach that had good things going here before he got ran off. They hired somebody else and now they have struggled the last couple years. I thought that this year they would at least make the playoffs. They were #5 going in. Now they lose a lot of playing time so if could be a tough couple of years. He recruited and had a good team here as an assistant and he moved on and was a good head coach so I'll give him a couple more years. I could be wrong on a lot of the USD stuff but this is just an outsiders opinion. It doesn't hurt that ORU left the conference and Omaha joined the conference in basketball either.

Serve up a piece of humble pie to Sayler, which he should have had before the football season began.

Serve up a piece of humble pie to Sayler, which he should have had before the football season began. Why don't you elaborate on that some more. It sounds like you have some real opinions on things. Let them be known.
