Anyone here how practice went in Sioux City on Saturday and if any new freshman were able to participate?

I really wish someone local would update this thread about how spring practice is going, who is looking better than expected etc.

I was at the Sioux Falls scrimmage. Not a ton to take from it. The team has only had a handful of practices.
It is clear why 30+ new players are coming in. The roster is depleted.
QB: JVM is the clear standout here. Earl looks like a QB, but nobody spins it like JVM. Saeger looks physically able, but needs a lot of development.
RB: Sanders is the clear leader and looks as good as any back we've had in years. Roberts is put together, and is only a RS Frosh. Big guns. Buoma looks very similar, but listed as a FB - probably a step slower. We need more depth.
FB: see Buoma above. Manning is a beast physically.
WR: Terry is JVM's favorite target. Graham just looks like a WR. All of 6'3". I know we all loved Powell, but I'm not convinced we will see a big drop off here. Terry looks solid.
TE: not much to report. Didn't watch for Miller. Wilhelm looks physically able as a pass catching TE but may be light as a blocker.
OL is more fit, hard to tell on skill. Too early. However, our season will be based entirely on the development of this crew. With time in the pocket JVM will thrive. With decent holes, Sanders could explode, in my opinion.
DL: didn't see a ton to report. Greer looks like our go to NT. Wiseman made some very impressive, athletic plays. Need to get a pass rush from a combination of this group and the LBs.
LB: this is where I noticed the most difference. WAY more speed. The players look much more like a D1 LB crew. Starr, Lage, O'Farrell, Buscarini and Staples all stood out.
DB: all look legit physically. Not tested too much.
P/K: n/a. We need the Frosh from CO to get here ASAP.

Did they run any special teams at all? The kid from CO will be huge. Who was long snapping? Will the incoming DLineman from Illinois be the starting long snapper?

They did run a limited amount of ST. I only remember 1 or 2 punts. Snap was off. Punt was bad. It was rainy and wet. Should have said that above. It was impacting throwing as well.
My recollection was that the FG attempts were fine, but I honestly can't recall.

Quote from the story at KELO: For USD practicing outside was a bit of a change from the Dakota Dome they're use to playing in. But it was the red and black's defense that shined in the elements. _______________________________________________________________________ Red and black?

There is little news out there and the ones reporting know little about the program. Tough to get any information right now. The most info I have seen is cousin Eddie on this post. Thanks Eddie.

Yeah...KELO isn't exactly too keen with their sports outside of the city limits....

About the only thing Mick reported on was was Vander Matten's number change. His analysis was, it was to help sell more programs. WOW!!

It sounds like Chris Wiseman hurt his knee. I was really looking forward to seeing him this year. I wish him the best in rehab.
