I guess I spoke too soon on the rise of the Jacks. They were beaten in their home gym by fellow perennial bottom-dweller WIU. Hard to say what is going on with some of these teams. Likely there is some inconsistent play. Denver swept ORU, but every set was very competitive. USD really dominated UND. The F-Hawks only scored 8 points in the last set. The WIU/SDSU match was played at the Pentagon and SDSU blew a 2-0 lead

John Thayer made a comment about Bob asking for a timeout at 20 seconds and the refs didn’t grant it

Here’s my thoughts: Simmons is overrated, give Tsgalis a go, Greenfield is overrated, haven’t seen much from him. The defense coach should be fired, where did he come from anyway? Disappointed and Disillusioned in the Dome! Man... Simmons is 45/60 with 500 yards and 4 TDs and 0 INTs today... are you kidding me?

Do none of you remember how often we got blown out in the Joe Glenn era? I love Joe Glenn, but we’d be down by 2 TDs right now if he was still here. Defense has been very shaky today but the top 3 or 4 corners are all out with injuries and 2 of our best receivers are out as well. Definitely concerning but I don’t think Bob needs to be on the hot seat right now If you don't want to put Bob on the hot seat that's fine, but Glenn would not be down by two scores to this team. He would beat this team handily. By the time Glenn was done we were beating Carson Wentz in Fargo for gosh sakes. 46-0, 20-7, 40-21, 31-3, 41-10, 31-12, 47-7, 44-29, 45-26 ^^Losses in the last 2 years of the Glenn era. My point being, Bob’s teams have been 10x as competitive as Glenn’s teams

I hate watching sports without a scoreboard. Hopefully the announcer is over the top with mentioning the score

I wouldn’t be surprised if team didn’t walk through due to the rain. I wondered if new deputy AD West would be out meeting people. Was told he was helping make sure new ticket staff was ok their first game day. Not many replays today, and wouldn’t be surprised if that was due to a lot of new faces on staff. New announcer was struggling. Kind of a recurring theme. Didn’t realize there were that many new people. Who else besides deputy AD?

Just speculating but I wonder if they didn’t do the walk though the lot because of the ramp that they enter on being closed due to the construction. Not a good excuse but just my guess

I have a question regarding NCAA rules: Former USD pole vault standout Emily Grove won the Howard Wood event this year. Does anyone know if she's still being coached by Derek Miles? I'm just curious to know what the rules are. I believe she is

Quick question - who was the guy that transferred from USD going into the first year Mooney/TBM/Hurst played, and CF thought it was unrecoverable/showed Smith couldn't recruit/keep players/coach? I feel like Stan may end up being like that guy. Thoseby? If you're thinking of Trey Dickerson, he played 1 year with Mooney/TBM/Hurst

He's from Texas and it's reported Texas is interested. At the end of the day, he's a kid trying to make it as far in basketball as he can. If he can do that in his home state for a program like Texas, he's gonna do that 10 times out of 10. This situation is a little different than the Mooney situation but you can't fault the players for taking advantage of the system in place. Wish him well, but if it were me and none of those schools showed a lick of interest 2 years ago, I'd want to stick it to them. But that's just me. Actually, I do fault the players. USD gave them an opportunity when others would not. Once put on that stage they repay the program by abandoning their teammates. It reveals their true character. It's a job, like it or not. Company A (P5 school) overlooks you, you go to a smaller Company B (Mid-Major) and work hard to prove yourself, then company A sees your work and offers you a better opportunity. Mooney wanted to elevate his status to play professionally. Playing at Texas Tech gave him the opportunity to play in front of NBA and other professional scouts on a nightly basis. Matt is going to make a lot of money playing basketball after college now because of it. Would he still have had opportunities if he stayed in Vermillion? Yes, but he improved his stock immensely. Until the NCAA starts paying players and/or contracts become a thing, it's not going to change. It's the world we live in and it's no different between an average Joe and a college coach, so why should it be any different for a student-athlete?
