From the article, his hand is in a cast. Wonder if was playing with a broken hand or had to have surgery after the season? Either way, that makes the last few games that much more impressive. "He will return to Vermillion in a few weeks to begin training, despite his right thumb currently being in a cast from an injury suffered late in the regular season. The thumb will require a few more weeks of rest before he begins throwing." Streveler made a few throws against SDSU that looked really ugly so I though something was wrong with his hand but if you look at his stats, they weren't any worse at the end of the season then the beginning of the season. It is impressive that he could complete about 66% of his passes (69% against SDSU) if he had a broken hand. When I read about a hand in a cast, I was hoping that you were talking about Christian. He had 8 or 9 turnovers in the semifinal game. Twice he just dropped the ball. It's too bad this wasn't last year when Lujan was still with the team because we was arguably the better passer. Either the coaches thought there wasn't anybody else or something??? Pretty sure it's a broken thumb or something like that. Why else would it be so swollen for the SDSU game, per neilson. If that truly is the case that he played 3 games with a broken hand, one of which he set an FCS record for total offense, that has to go down as one of the toughest accomplishments we have ever seen. No wonder he is such a leader and loved by his coaches and teammates. If he doesn't win the Payton award something is terribly wrong.

MVFC leads all conferences with 17 players So what happens to 1st or 2nd team QB if the WR wins the Payton Award?

Congrats to all 3 of them. Well deserved for dagel and greenfield. Great honors for all 3 of these young men. yote nation should be proud.
The interesting part of Chris' story is the fact that he was not on any preseason all conference or all American teams. He was nowhere to be found. Yet here he is showing up big on a national stage. I think the one thing that separates him from the field is heart. There are other qb' s with better arms and might run better but I don't think any of them have a bigger heart. It's too bad there is not a way to quantify heart because I think he would win the award for that one too. Well done Chris. Well done.

I would vote for him, obviously. I just don't think he will win. I think we needed to win that game at SHSU and he needed to outduel the incumbent Briscoe in order in order to win the award. The voting was all done prior to the playoffs. What happens post season is moot.

My thoughts are that if Bob leaves then good for him. The administration will need to go out and find the next coach who will elevate USD football to the next level. As long as the administration is willing to put the financial and facility resources towards football we will be able to attract a good candidate to take over the program. Now, do I think Bob is leaving? No. The turnaround for this program is not complete and any potential suitor has to see how the team has performed at the end of the season the last two years. Another thought, there are more attractive coaching candidates just inside the MVFC, Chris Klieman anybody? Hello? Hell, even Stig should be looked at for a MAC gig before Bob. If it happens, it happens. I'm not going to worry over it. STig is not going anywhere. He likes to be a big fish in the small pond. Klieman is holding out for something better than Kent state and I can't blame him for that.

Of course he should take the opportunity to move to a higher paying job if offered. I am not debating that nor am I debating his exciting brand of football. The thing I am mentioning is that the finish to the year did hurt his stock. It might not have hurt it enough for him to get better offers but it hurt it a little. Frankly I'm a little pissed that everyone keeps bringing up how we finished the season. It's a marathon not a sprint. This team in less than 24 months went from doormat to the playoffs. Let's look at the body of work people. Yes we started off strong and lost a couple down the stretch. But this team NEVER quit and NEVER made excuses. If I'm looking for a coach I want a guy who has dealt with a little adversity. Bob has that experience in spades. Would I hate to see bob and his staff leave, of course but I would be the first to thank him for his efforts and wish him nothing but the best wherever he may land.

Maybe bob's not a bullish on the Yotes as we are? Did he catch lightning in a bottle with streveler and this team? How often does a guy like that fall into you lap and help put a program in the map. Just a thought maybe he wants to go now before this house of cards falls. My question is what players would he take with him? Players going with him is not really a concern at all. Taking the staff and having to start this process all over is the biggest issue if he leaves. Anyone who has not red shirted can transfer and use that season as their red shirt. Not really that hard to do. Greenfield? Henry? Case?

I mean, do you want to seek an FCS National Championship, or the Dollar General Bowl? FCS championship? Slow down Bucky, win the conference and get a seed first...then you can start talking crazy. Do you want to make low to mid six figures or seven figures with opportunity to advance to an upper FBS job? Maybe bob's not a bullish on the Yotes as we are? Did he catch lightning in a bottle with streveler and this team? How often does a guy like that fall into you lap and help put a program in the map. Just a thought maybe he wants to go now before this house of cards falls. My question is what players would he take with him?

I mean, do you want to seek an FCS National Championship, or the Dollar General Bowl? Or triple your salary? Any one of us would vote for 3x and if you say no, you're probaly lying.

Exactly what I was thinking huskie.... Bob's the kind of guy to keep everything under wraps until it is a done deal. Yeah I always tell my current employer when I'm looking for a new job.

He's doubling down with this atrocious argument, too: Douche bag! Where is his HC telling him to shut up? I'm guessing he's working on the cramping game plan and doesn't have time for things like this.

Wouldn't expect anything less from Coach Eat I missed this thread. I basically said the same thing over in the SDSU forum. 1000% Classless Also with 2 future NLF receivers on your roster you damn well better make sure you're throwing TD passes.
