We need to find some length and preferably a rim protector .

I think there are a couple variables from yesterday and the season.
This was almost an entirely new team. Larkins is obviously the best player, but her role this year vs last is a night & day difference.
The injuries were massive. Losing Bergstrom before the season. Mazurek still not back, Pep hurt in offseason, Grange & Ugofsky hurt in season. That’s a lot of minutes lost.
I am old enough to remember Dawn’s 1st season where we got beat 1st round against Omaha. We basically played that season with 6 players. So there’s a parallel here, but the biggest difference is the HC experience gap. We did not look well prepared yesterday. Have we never practiced to beat a press? My gosh that was bad.
A lot of learning from everyone this season. We better see some growth next year.

Good start to the second half! Because they backed off the press. As soon as they ramped it back up, we were toast again.

Two things killed us. 1st half we got killed on the boards and it led to too many 2nd (or 3rd) chance points.
I thought we were a little too committed to switching. There were a handful of times, including on that final 3 that was the dagger, where the switch was unnecessary 40 feet from the basket. They could’ve fought thru it or just gone under. Instead we allowed them to dictate the matchup and now Mayo has a forward on him rather than a guard. He starts to drive, defender backing up, he pulls up, can’t recover and it’s over.

They look like a collection of individuals, and not anteam. They’re almost out of time to figure it out.
I can’t figure out why Mason has stopped shooting the ball. I realize it’s a new staff and systems, but the dude has disappeared. Coulda really helped out today. Not pinning this on him specifically, just feels like he’s disappeared this season.

Timing seems about right to me. Just over a week since Davis took over. He has the right to build his own staff.
Hopefully those let go will have time to find new employment. Wish them well. I’m honestly a little surprised we didn’t see more staff from that side of the ball leave already for fear the new OC would want to bring in some fresh ideas.

Situation is starting to be VERY concerning. Could’ve hired a new HC and staff by now it would seem.

Nielson addressed this in a halftime interview during the women's game today. Elsen asked him about it directly. Nielson said the goal all along has been to announce a new OC before the spring semester and that there should be an announcement coming in short order. Paopao for OC!!!! He’d be excellent! If that’s the route they were going, I would think they would’ve already announced it.

Totally agree. I sorta view Zimmer as an equal opportunity offender. He doesn’t really care about your feelings and is pretty blunt.
Now, the one critique he offered, that I have no way to quantify, is when he basically dismissed the notion that USD FB has talent on the roster. He backed it up with great insight into OL recruiting locally via his quote of former USF coach Anderson. “It’s hard to get good OL in this area because Jason Eck gets whoever he wants.” That’s access and info that Zimmer has as a reporter. We know our depth at all positions, especially the trenches, has always been an issue. But do we really have no talent? Seems like hyperbole. Theis, Thomas, CVE, Lawrence, Bell, Samson, Harden, Reed, Cochrane, & Greenfield all come to mind recently. I kinda go back to the 2018 season. I remember saying how important it was coming off the magical Streveler season that we had a winning season and possibly make playoffs again. That would’ve given them the ability to establish themselves as perennial contenders and in theory would’ve helped local recruiting. I do feel like the recruiting issues are systemic, as the university gets out recruited locally for students in general, especially males. We don’t recruit to the business school as well as we should, which would help get more males on campus and accent all the wonderful careers open through that pathway. Add in the fact Vermilion isn’t known for being business friendly or seen as a growing and thriving community and it makes it tough on the athletic departments.

I think we’ll see some changes to his staff. Hopefully with his extension, he takes a pay cut so he can have more $ available for a high quality OC. I would also live to see that new OC be named assistant HC and coach in waiting so everyone knows a succession plan.

Everyone figure we know the outcome no later than Tuesday? Not really. If Bob is staying that would mean an extension, which wouldn't be negotiated by Tuesday. If it's already decided that he is gone then I'm sure we will know by Tuesday. I think we’ll know before the holiday either way. They can’t let him go into the signing period as a lame duck.
