Enough with all this other crap. Our colors are red and white. Stick with that. (get off my lawn, too)

That was about as unentertaining as a basketball game can be: two hours and 20 minutes, 57 fouls and 71 free throws. So much for fast paced action. Didn't watch, only listened but either both teams were extremely lazy on defense, it was very physical, closely called and neither team adjusted or it was a tad bit over officiated. I get that Denver was fouling at the end to run up the totals somewhat. Anybody who watched video have any observations? Anyway, nice to get a conference win on the road.

ORU seems to do less with more every year. And really, what's up with Obanor? He tore it up last year and now a non factor in games? I don't get that at all.

Looks like there'll be another new face coaching in the MVFC next fall as Youngstown coach Bo Pelini is headed to LSU as defensive coordinator. He must really be held in high regard around the country because his Nebraska defenses and those at YSU could be torched at times. I realize LSU already has a national championship with Bo heading up the defense. Wonder if Carl get the YSU gig? That is supposedly is Bo's desire although I don't know if he has the juice at Youngstown to make demands like that. I think he'll be fine there. Bo's defenses were pretty darn good when he had elite level talent. His drive to recruit wasn't high, but at a school like LSU it's like the easy button getting athletes. Does this give rise to the old nature vs nurture discussion ?

Next three game will determine where we end up in conference. The Omaha game is critical.

Why do you think Denver has advantages? Sure, they are located in a big city but they are also fighting with every pro team in town for visibility, not to mention CU, CSU, and Air Force for relevancy at the college level (along with Northern Colorado). Their hockey program has an advantage in that DU, CC, and Air Force are the only D1 hockey programs in the state (meaning not overshadowed by CU and CSU), and it has a long history of success and plays at the highest level in a top hockey conference. Why? Great facilities, excellent academics, money, should be able to recruit in their own back yard more so than any other Summit team and, in real estate parlance, location, location, location. Denver is a beautiful, vibrant city that's one of the most desirable places in the nation to live especially for the younger college graduate. Compare it to other Summit towns and the only one the even comes close is Omaha, but it doesn't have the Rocky Mountains in its backyard. I fully realize that Colorado as a whole is a pro sports area, but they're not competing with the Broncos or the Rockies. I'll give you the Avalanche and Nuggets, but compare costs to attend a game. CU is always crap in basketball and CSU is nothing special. Besides, what would you guess the population in say even a ten mile radius from campus would be. I don't think visibility plays a factor either. Does anyone come to USD to get their name in the Press and Dakotan?

The school I don't understand is Denver. With all the perceived advantages inherent with that school, a person would think that they'd always be among the top teams in the standings. Their men are the pits and now if the women's team slide into that abyss they could develop into the worst basketball school in the Summit. Are they that much of a hockey school?

Last season during the conference schedule, ORU gave the 'Yotes a whole lot of trouble. Hope this one is over at halftime, but it would be fun to see a good game for a change. In the big picture I wonder if all these blowouts are good or bad for the team?

Top two seed would be nice for obvious reasons, but I think it's more important this season to get at least a top three seed. The difference? The quality of opponent in the first round. Seems to be a drop off in talent after five in strength of opponent, although it's become clear that just about anyone can beat anybody on a given night. The four/five game could be brutal. This might be the most balanced the tourney has ever been.

This team is really starting to gel. Here's hoping they can solve their road woes because that seems to be the only thing holding them back right now. We'll see in the next few games. The two loses to Ft Wayne and Western to open the conference season were brutal and most likely precludes a chance at a conference title but this seems to be an entirely different team now with positive contributions from the bench and a 100% healthy Simpson.

Also nice to see the bench getting involved early and often. It's something we were missing early on in conference and has the potential to make us so much more dangerous as a team. I'm a fan of what Chisum brings to the table; he plays with so much energy and Goodrich is a very good defender. He's awfully strong for a freshman.

Does margin of victory count for anything in the RPI formula?

PFW has only beaten us and Western Illinois in conference play. They lead the league in forcing turnovers (13.7/gm), and in steals (7.1/gm) They have a good scoring defense, and defense in general. They are the worst shooting team in the conference (all categories), and have a weak offense in general. They turn the ball over just as much as they force it (0.00 TO margin) They both commit and draw the fewest fouls in the conference. This is surprising based on their past history.
