I think the post you quoted was misplaced and in poor taste. Game is in early October though. Not sure why we would bail on a winning streak and maybe the first time in at least 20 years USD plays in Brookings with a temp above freezing. You'll even get to use that as an excuse when your team falls flat.[/quote]
Touché on the October, totally forgot October was the case this season.
Good luck, and apologies for dragging smack in here…most of you can read my posts and have messaged with me before and realize I just enjoy good intelligent conversation. Heck a few years ago had a great time at tailgate with a few of you before we went in and watched the snow bowl
Congrats to coach Petersen, he’s a great hire

State just has a drunk for a football coach and a womens coach nobody wants. Years ago an athletic director that knocked his wife around . Great role models. A womens coach no one wants…lol Troll away, I forgot your programs are perfect…at least you haven’t had to fire a baseball coach lately(sarcasm). I’ve always considered myself a logical fan and appreciative of other programs successes. The success that USD has is good for the state and it forces each program to push harder. I get there are delusional and crap fans in each fan base…but lately the trolling from this site is laughable at best. It’s like you guys have nothing better to do. Celebrate your new coaches and the current players who’ve decided to stay and not bail, save trashiness for the summer. I’ll see myself out with this rather be dead than red. See you in October(corrected), that is if you guys don’t back out on the game.

Congrats on the win, tough one as a Jacks fan to stomach. Maybe see you again in the playoffs.

3 hours and change left to gametime…hoping for a clean hard fought contest by both teams with no injuries and one where the officials are there to stop and start plays. Those of you going to the game enjoy it, and don’t forget Herbster deemed this the “blue out” game, wear your blue in support of the society to save the blue fin tuna’s spawning habitat. 😂
Thanks all for civil conversation on this board and the PMs this week.
One more thing:
GO BIG!
GO BLUE!!
GO JACKRABBITS!!!

I sit directly behind the opponent's sideline and have had some great fun shouting at them this year. I've got plenty of ideas of what to yell at Stig, but I would love to hear what everyone else would shout if given the opportunity. (admins move this to smack if necessary) Try chanting “Let’s Go Rabbits!!!” Whenever the Yotes are on offense, preferably louder on 3rd downs. 🤣

The Jacks D is getting healthy at the right time but still coming back. The Yotes have a good run game but that seems to be the strength of this D. Honestly I think if the Yotes are to be successful on Offense it’ll be in the air, with Samson being the one who concerns me most. If you are looking to watch a game-within-the-game, I think the Yote's strength on offense is balance (not the run or pass individually). Strong will be the best offensive player on the field (by quite a bit), but next best players on O may be USD wide receivers. If SDSU is able to take away the run, the Yotes will be pretty comfortable throwing the ball, since that is where the playmakers are. The run game is pretty good and the passing game is pretty good, but combined it is an efficient offense (if Camp is healthy), and they really don't turn the ball over much. To look at the team stats from scoring, yards and turnovers it’s fairly even. Not to take anything away from Camp and the WRs but if the Jacks D can make them one dimensional I don’t think it bodes well for the Yotes. I may be wrong but with the depth and aggressiveness of the Jacks Dline it could prove to be a long afternoon.

I think many SDSU fan forum posters are quietly cautiously optimistic coming into this game. We recognize the Yotes are as strong a team this year than they’ve had top to bottom. Add the acid burn of 2019 that still sits in the pit of our stomachs will cause some to be quieter than normal.
Optimism though because as fans we know that if the Oline is on fire the Jacks can run on anyone. Even taking away Strong’s 75 yard run last week he averaged 4.1 a carry vs the Bison. Add the other weapons on offense and as good as the Yotes D can be it’s possible they could still have issues slowing them down. Honestly I think at times the Jacks offense have been hampered not by the players themselves but plays called.

Saturday can’t come soon enough.
I’m really surprised at how quiet the smack sections on each of the fan forums are…I expect that to change depending on the outcome of the game.

Jacks have the FBS win but also carry a D2 non counter win against Lindenwood due to Tarleton backing out of their game against the Jacks.
So the Jacks are going to have a resumé that only includes 10 games. 3 or 4 losses on that resumé is much worse than 11 games. Besides, no team wants to back into the playoffs, good way to guarantee a quick exit. The other thing the Jacks are playing(maybe desperately so) is a first round bye.
Overrated? Not sure I’d agree there but I also don’t think they’re underrated either.
In any case both teams are pretty good. Honestly the Yotes quality play and youth of the squad overall is impressive.

Understandable, that’s why I lead initially stating front 7.
Definitely a strength for both teams is the respective run game. As is rush defense. Pass D for the Jacks hasn’t been horrid but still is suspect. Whether it’s a failure to turn and locate a deep ball or a blown coverage assignment and a guy releases deep.

How does the depth of the Yotes front 7 look this year? I understand the starters are all very good and make a stout D. Just curious if there’s the depth for a full game. I think that’s been the problem for the Jacks in years past….especially competing with the Bison. Hang in for 3 quarters but then the Dline is gassed and can’t get off the field. Now the Jacks play 7-9 guys across the line with very little drop off in talent.
Jacks Oline against the Yotes D front is the biggest matchup in my opinion.

3 common opponents so far this year: Indiana State - USD won at home 38-10 and was up 24-3 at the half. SDSU won on the road 44-0 & was up 34-0 at the half. Western Illinois - USD won on the road 42-21 & was up 28-14 at the half. SDSU won on the road 41-17 & was up 13-10 at the half. UNI - USD won on the road 34-21 & was up 24-0 at the half. SDSU lost at home (on Hobo Days) 27-16 & was down 20-10 at the half. So other than the difference with a very bi-polar yet dangerous UNI squad seems to be a fairly even matchup based on common opponents. Honestly if the Yotes can win the trenches against the Jacks offense and slow down the running game like UNI did it can change the whole game. The Jacks didn’t adjust well in game and defensively gave the Panthers big WRs too much. Getting a few key defensive playmakers that weren’t available against UNI back for the Jacks should help.

Stopped by the bunny board to see their predictions. They may be letting their win over the bison inflate their ego’s a little too much. Some are predicting a blowout win on Saturday. I am feeling very good about coyote athletics this week though, and don’t see their prediction coming in true. Just make sure they keep the music loud for coach stig, I know he really likes it! Just checking out their board drops your IQ by about 10 points. No thanks. Isn’t that a belief coming from any opposing fanbase? I guess that’s why it’s good to have the smack sections on these fan forum. 😆

With the exception of the UNI game the Jacks have put up at least 20 first half points in every game. In fact scoring like that has at times caused the offense to go into conservative play mode in the 2nd half(only 3pts vs the fluffy cows). The D has had its share of mistakes but they’ve also had several goal line stands. Will the confidence is going to be there from our fanbase, of course. Also a certain level of butthurt losing 2 years ago factors in too. So I believe most of us Jacks fans are wanting a blowout.
I don’t think the team itself will be overlooking the Yotes, or overconfident. The only thing I’ve seen with this team is they like to add a little swagger when a play goes well. Too much for my tastes but they are kids.
Rivalry game, playoff implications, conference record…all this will bring out the best/worst of any fan.
