I have also been hearing that significantly more money is coming our way as well, but that it will be the same dollar for dollar matching arrangement. This only makes sense given USD has the only medical school in the state. Yote fans will need to step up and contribute just like Jacks fans will have to though. The new Sanford business model as it relates to becoming a regional sports medicine provider at all levels of play will be a great thing for area athletes and area universities. Look for an announcement soon.

Yep, that's right and for the record, it appears the site has changed since my earlier post. Not real impressed, considering its the "official olympic" web-site. They didn't even have a picture of Derek when I looked, although that could have changed now too.

Looks like qualifying round is August 12 at 10:00 a.m. Hopefully enough time for Derek's achilles to heal some more. Would love to see him medal...third Olympics could be a charm.

Done deal. Announcement will likely be made on Thursday. Kickoff will be at 6:00 p.m. I think that part of this plan should be shared as it is important.
More hotel rooms for fans of both teams to use. Game at newly renovated Howard Wood field with the potential to sell about 8,500 tickets. Dome has 5,200 tickets to sell. Tickets will be $25 a pop. No youth tickets will likely be sold. The math on this makes sense.
This will also help cultivate our relationship with the Sioux Falls Sports Authority and more importantly with Sanford, a likely multi-million dollar donor for the new basketball arena.

For what it's worth, I compare Jake to Steve Kerr of the Chicago Bulls. Get him coming in as a key reserve and set up a few trips down the court on offense where he is coming off a screen or, even better for his skill set, where a player makes an extra pass to a wide-open Jake and he'll knock most of them down. Good, likeable kid who is hard-working with a bigger up-side than most people realize. Look forward to seeing him in action for you guys!

Nice job coaches and welcome to the Pack gentleman. The Coyotes got some great kids all the way around.

If USD gets the offense going early I think they roll up on Illinois State and this one is never in doubt.
If they come out sluggish and take a while to get going, the train may never leave the station for them.
With that said, the Coyote defense keeps getting better and better. I know Starr is the hot commodity right now, but Broders, Williams, Potter and Thompson have all been difference makers this season too. If everybody does their job, USD will be the better team on Saturday and 4-2 coming in to this game is right where we hoped we would be. Let's own the Redbirds and crack the top 10 next week.

I just saw the picture on the Argus. Wow, I didn't know Hannibal Lecter was a State grad.
Seriously, a noose around the neck of a Coyote hung up on a bill-board along I-29? I have hunted my whole life and shot plenty of coyotes, but that's sick even in the eyes of my State buddies.
Stay classy Brookings...and get whoever did this some serious counseling and a copy of the DSM-IV.

Had a blast in Vermillion yesterday and managed to share a beer with a few of you as well on a great D-Days. Just a few quick observations:
1.) The officiating was horrendous. I have never seen so many blatantly obvious holding violations go uncalled in a college football game. That officiating crew was disorganized, mis-spotted the ball, and flat out missed calls all day long. 2.) The crowd was great and made it over 10,000 for a change. Loved the idea of crowning the D-Days royalty at half-time. It not only led to a HUGE student section and better turnout all around, but it kept students in the student section longer than normal.
3.) Saw a lot of former athletes back yesterday. More than normal in fact. That was great. Every one of them I spoke with that had not been back in a while said one common thing..."I feel cheated that we didn't have this when I was a student." They all said they'd be coming back too. Made my heart kinda swell up. =)
Things are turning around in Vermillion and USD is finally righting the ship.
Can someone post the link of Will Powell's Sports Center highlight? Good grief, after 10 minutes I concluded their web-site has far too much going on for me to find it. Thanks.

I took the bait...went to the bunny board for the first time in over 2 years and remembered what I hadn't been missing for so long...I made it to Jack MD's comments and tapped out. That guy's misery is evident in everything he posts. He could stand to listen to a great SDSU grad named V.J. Smith and take a page out of his play-book...a lot of those poor guys could.
My folks are State grads, my brother and I graduated from USD. We keep it civil and light, we all forwarded the bill-board to one another and got a laugh out of it and made plans to attend the game together with our friends from the respective schools on that date. It got us talking and looking forward to a date that was important to all of us.
For that reason, right, wrong or indifferent, the bill-board has done its job and has gotten people talking about a game that most South Dakotans have a genuine interest in. The bill-board did that in a light and fun way.
The people on the bunny-board who see it otherwise are the same people who refused to see USD joining the MVFC until we already were in. They're the people still mad they went D1 first and we came second. They are still citing a locker-room incident that varies in severity the further north on I-29 you go, which years from now will involve mutilated bodies, space aliens, and Weird Al all in a shower, bla bla bla...nothing typed on a fan-board will ever change their thinking.
It's seeing families and friends like mine from both camps getting along and acting like adults, not idiots, that will.

I agree with yoteforever 100% about the two poor chop-block calls.
From what I gathered, chop blocks are apparently "a new officiating point of emphasis" and in the case of the Coyotes against AF, both calls seemed more or less designed to drive this new point home whether or not such an offense really occurred on the field.
In looking at the replays of both calls, I couldn't see it.
USD played well and agree with yf again that minus the 80 yard reverse both teams were pretty even. Ironic that the AF air attack was so poor, but they appeared to be a classy bunch and USD handled themselves well. Proud of the Yotes and looking forward to Saturday.

Clawman, If you wear red you won't be as easy to spot as you think....you will be joined by about 9,000 other folks in red too. In South Dakota that color means you are a Coyote fan first, a Husker fan second, and everything else is a distant third. The tail-gating has gotten better every year and this year promises to be more of the same. The party usually gets going about 4 hours before game time and everyone is very warm and receptive to visiting fans. Last year we spent an hour across the street from the Dome at Pro's with some Cal Poly fans and they couldn't believe how many people were tail-gating and how nice everyone in SD was. Look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
