You can ask them to play hard and go 100%, just call appropriate running plays, dive, power, sweep. Keep the click running and take your time out of the huddle.
You know what else can happen? The coaches can agree to run a shortened 4th quarter. I believe Georgia did that this year with a game that wasn't near this out of hand.

You guys serious? Remorseful after the fact sums up the Stig way. I am not buying one thing that comes out of that guy's mouth.
A coach should be very aware in the moment that they are running up the score. Simple solution to that would be in the 4th quarter to run the play clock to one second and run the ball every single play. Keep that clock running and get the game over. From everything I have read and heard they were still running their offense as usual, just with backups.
They should be embarrassed to schedule games like that to begin with. At least when we scheduled Drake it was a home and home, not a rent a win, Drake is a regional school that has a somewhat respectable football history, and when you are playing on the road you are limited to your travel squad. Stig had his entire roster available on the sidelines including true freshman that can now get some game action and still he ran up the score the way he did. Pine Bluff was a bought and paid for body bag game, no other way to put it. Good luck buying your next rent a home win after embarrassing this one, other programs won't forget what happened.

This is homecoming week for us, expecting lots of alumni on campus, slowly regrouping from your thrashing. You guys have a great week off, then kick some butt in the MVFC. Start to soften up those teams, we're anxious. You do realize you are going back and forth with an NDSU fan who posts on this site.

Then start calling more straight run plays and use RPO plays less often. Our offensive problems really are as simple as we don't run the ball enough and establish control of the LOS. We ran the ball a ton in previous years, our offenses were well balanced, and it's pretty common knowledge that if you are going to win the MVFC that you need to be able to run the ball and play defense.
Oddly enough, all across the MVFC you are seeing a movement to more pass happy, up tempo offenses. At the same time the MVFC is suffering one of its worst OOC record in years. Coincidence? Nope.

My take on the offense is that the O-coordinator needs to take some pressure off the O-line by calling more running plays. Simply put, we don't run the ball enough. It makes us one dimensional and allows the defense to pin their ears back, pass rush, and dial up blitzes. We're just in love with the pass and throwing the ball too dang much. You could argue that the run game isn't working, I would counter by saying you need to give it time to work. Rushes that go for 1 or 2 yard gains in the first quarter become 5-6 yard gains in the 4th when you keep going to body with a pounding run game. It also keeps the defense honest, they still need to respect the run because you're calling run plays. The O needs more balance, simple as that. Running the ball will help the O-line out a ton.
You know who else this helps out, the defense. Running the ball increases our TOP and keeps the D off the field and prevents them from getting worn out. I was screaming at the TV Saturday night that we needed to RUN THE DAMN BALL!

We needed to establish the run early in this game. We've fallen in love with this dink and dunk spread pass BS, and when you don't complete the pass, you are F'd. It's time to get back to Valley football, let the O line feast and knock some heads.

I love playing a legit schedule, but I do have to wonder if maybe we're scheduling too hard. My ideal schedule would be 1 FBS, 1 FCS full scholarship, 1 FCS non-scholarship, MVFC schedule. The MVFC conference schedule is good enough to stand on its own. We simply need to get to 7 wins every year as a MVFC team and we're playoff bound.
I'm almost to the point I think we should maybe even go for 1 FBS, two rent-a-wins against some Pioneer teams, and then the goal is 5-3 in conference. That's 7 wins and a playoff berth. Win 5 in the MVFC and you should be automatically in the playoffs but this year, let's say we drop a nail biter game at Weber St, we'd end up at 6-5 and on the bubble. Seriously, a team that takes KSU to the wire, goes 1-1 against the BSC, and 5-3 in the MVFC could be sitting at home watching the playoffs while teams that play in cream puff conferences are in the playoffs. That's an argument for dumbing down the non-conference schedule and doing what YSU is doing.
This weekend's game is pretty much must-win for this reason. We need this game if we're going to make the playoffs because the meat grinder is coming.

I think he is our best WR right now so I hope not.
The refs must be making a point to call unsportsmanlike calls this year. There was 5 or 6 in our game and I saw it called in a lot of other games last weekend.
Allen must have said something during the second penalty because if he received it for simply flexing his arms it could be a long year if the refs keep calling these.
Does anyone know what Nick Jensen did to get his 15 yd penalty? I’m surprised no one has mentioned this, as it turned a 3rd and 2 into a 3rd down and 17. Not very disciplined by a senior on our team. Call me old fashioned, but I think our team could be a little more business-like during the game. I’m all for having fun, but not if it costs the team penralties. Look at what Kai Henry did after he scored - went and handed the ball to the ref. Contrast with our second touchdown, where our receiver spiked the ball, did the Superman shirt-tear, and then pointed his hands in the air. He is lucky he didn’t get flagged for spiking the ball. Maybe my expectations are too high, but I think fun would be winning more games in the regular season, winning the MVFC title, and hosting playoff games in the Dakotadome in December. Nick is a gentle giant and one of the nicest young man you will ever meet. Not concerned about it all. He's a high character guy.
