My take is that you are getting another Dakota team with an attitude that is just not happy to be on the same field as a Big 12 team but one that is expecting to win. I wouldn't be too comfortable about this game if I were a KSU fan.
Personally, if I were a P5 school in the Midwest I wouldn't touch a game against USD, or NDSU, or SDSU, or UNI. It's a lot bigger bite than what you're thinking.

Does anybody else think this is going to be a big coming out party for Simmons? I'm just getting that feeling. I've been high on him since we got him out of Council Bluffs. He was arguably the best QB in the state of Iowa that year and we got him here. If you've followed me here over the last few years you know I've always been pretty high on this kid. I think he's going to light it up against KSU.

He's wrapped himself in that "family values" blanket. It's pretty much Teflon against the South Dakota media.

Well, there it is. Finally a statement. Sounds like a perfectly reasonable explanation, so either this is simply a case of rumors gone wild, or Sanford and Kelby are REALLY good at cover-ups. Hopefully it’s the former. A corrupt Sanford would be a very bad thing for Sioux Falls, USD, SDSU, Augie, etc, with all the investments and employment affected. I missed the explanation part, he basically said he isn't going to dignify those rumors with a response. Anyways, time to move on.

Like I said, if Augustana's D1 plan is 100% dependent on Sanford or Kelby then they have no business moving to D1.

I’m being told that Kelby was escorted from his office yesterday. Involved hush money for love child using Sanford money...... I don't know if this is true or not but this perfectly highlights why Augustana should not be a D1 school. The entire thing relies too heavily on one funding source. What happens if/when that funding source disappears?

I am in a divided household. My wife and 4 year old daughter love it. Of course my daughter loves all things Charlie.
You all know this because I've shared it before, she thinks Charlie lives at the Dome and eats Dome Dogs for his food.
I wish I was 4 years old again. Okay, I set myself up for that, yes, I know I sometimes act like I'm 4 years old. I'm well aware of that folks.

After seeing Urban Meyer get suspended for 3 games I thought of this thread for some reason. Whatever you think about the Meyer situation, I would just like to note that he, personally, didn't commit any of those acts, his assistant allegedly did (I say allegedly because he was never convicted of anything). Where Meyer failed was in his handling of his assistant coach.
What made me think of this thread is that Urban got suspended, not for something he did, but something his assistant allegedly did. Here we have a situation at SDSU where the head coach actually did something illegal yet there was no suspension and nobody even knows the details of his "punishment". I am trying to wrap my head around this one.

You are actually making the case why we should not allow Augustana or any of those other schools that cannot afford it into the Summit. Or, at the very least, for the rest of us to get the heck out of the Summit, if these schools are moving in, and push for that internet rumored alliance with the Montanas and Idahos in a new FCS/G5 conference.
I don't want USD having any part of what you are talking about here.

UND going to non-scholarship football or the Dakota schools joining with Montanas and Idahos to make a new western FCS or FBS-G5 conference, what is more likely to happen? You can say that the Big North conference will never happen, you might be right, but UND dropping scholarship football is even more far-fetched.

Nice find! Thing I liked best about the writeup was how it pointed out how Simmons doesn't need to be the next Streveler. Just being the first Austin Simmons should be plenty good. I've been saying that the entire off-season. This has been the most spot-on preview I've read so far.

For the record, I am fine with this kid getting another chance. I hope he learns from it and moves on, because that is what life is all about, learning from mistakes and moving on to make this world a better place.
My point of contention is with this attitude that SDSU folks have that they are somehow better or do things "the right way". The Jacks have lost the "morally superior" high ground that they think they somehow have. Way too many examples now of USD having zero tolerance for any BS while State brings in people that have had questionable incidents, or even AD staff that have had questionable incidents yet are retained and celebrated.
