Petey made the comment on YoteCast that we only had one senior that would be graduating this year. I assume that is Lahat, and that Holt still has a COVID year. With 3 players signing, we are going to have to do some scholarship gymnastics next year. It's going to be very interesting to see how this year plays out. We are SO much deeper than in years past. Coleman and Branch are redshirting. Sounds like Eberwein is as well at this point.

Just take care of business, everything else will take care of itself.

I love the line "they have scholarship players too." It's absolutely true.
I will never understand how anybody can be overly confident about any MVFC game. The history of this league is riddled with upsets, close games and surprises. Make no bones about it, the MVFC is the SEC of the FCS.
We need to be focused on getting better and taking care of business. Nothing else should be on the minds of our coaches or players (or fans).

Commit to stopping the run and forcing their QB to win by throwing the ball. Get the heck off the field when we do get them in 3rd and Medium & Long. Our DL and LBs MUST play well to have a chance. May have to go against the grain with front and coverage calls that put our DBs in man coverage. Most important, create a few turnovers to limit their possessions. Offensively, be creative with formations and the variety of ways to attack them. If there is one thing true about NDSU, they are who they are and they do what they do no matter who they face. Running the ball will be extremely difficult especially without a running QB, but formations give them issues because they just adjust the sideline call to the formation and sometimes they will lose gap responsibility. And I agree, get the ball to Bell and Martens down the field because NDSU protects the heck out of the middle of the field and short game with their coverages. Not going to able to do it all day, but the opportunities will be there. Their one safety is NOT GOOD so take advantage of it in spots. I like our DC and OC a lot so I'm quite confident they will have a great game plan for both sides and then it's up to executing it in real time. Go Yotes! I agree with this. Need OC JD to take on the SDSU approach to facing NDSU. Long sustained drives that eat up the clock and keep it close for a punch out in the 4th.

Any game played in the Dakotas is a 100% safe bet to be on ESPN+. Road games at Indiana State, Southern Illinois, and Western Illinois also will probably on ESPN+ The season opener at Missouri is on the SEC Network. Pretty sure you'll need cable for that one. FWIW, YouTubeTV has the SEC Network.

The current USD President is VERY supportive of athletics. That (bad) rumor can be put to bed immediately. It may be such that she wants to win too much and is ultra completive, to a fault, but to suggest she doesn't support athletics could not be further from the truth. The Administration is hyper aware of the ever changing landscape of athletics now and into the future. We need to be positioned to adjust and be financially prepared for these changes. Major fundraising and marketing will be of the utmost importance moving forward. There is a reason there have been a bevy of consultants involved with and supporting the athletic department for the last several months. We are trying to prepare for what is to come.

One need only look at why UND left the Big Sky to come to the Summit/MVFC. The travel costs of the Big Sky are crippling.

I'd hardly call the SEC Network great exposure. Would have been much nicer to have the game on a day where more fans could attend. Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth.

Does anyone else find it concerning that this is becoming a trend in the program? Last year it was the OC this year it’s a DC. Before that its been a few players. It seems every year we have either a player or a coach making headlines and not for good reasons. It wasn't the DC. It was a defensive coach, but not the defensive coordinator. As I understand it, he has been let go. It may not be reflected on GoYotes.com, but it will be once there is something to update it with.

There’s only 13 headcount full scholarships in D-1 MBB. So there’s one left. I guess I’d assume any transfer player will be on scholarship, until we hear otherwise. JMO I would anticipate Max B. getting a scholarship.

I'm actually feeling pretty good our QB room at this point. Rumors from Lincoln were that he should have been QB2 last year but the OC wouldn't give him his shot over "his guys". Unfortunately, that wasn't Synek. Itwas Heinrich Haarberg, formerly of Kearney Catholic.
