I wonder if the Davis Jewelry family of Vermillion is the same family as the Davis Pharmacy family.

CF, I was thinking about you a few days ago, wondering how you have been. It's good to see you back, my friend.

During Gameday, Stig noted that each new player in the program gets a "MAD" Manual. It stands for Make A Difference. It details the culture of State, presumably everything from "flannel Friday" to "muscle milk Wednesday" at the Dairy Barn, to "how to cramp like champ." It outlines expectations of players and explains what it means to be a part of that team. The rationale? It outlines the culture of their program and how each player can make a difference for the bunnies and help their team win. His point in doing so is that no one guy can do it all, but each guy can do something to make a difference. You said a lot of complimentary things about my team, the Jackrabbits. But you have come to one conclusion that isn't entirely correct. I have listened to Coach Stig talk about "Make A Difference." In fact, I had the privilege of discussing it with him over dinner a few years ago. He isn't necessarily talking about football.

I assume nearly every seat on the east side of the dome will be occupied, which would suggest a loud and raucous atmosphere. But, will that be the case, or will the empty west side suck up all of the sound leaving an emptiness to the dome?

Along with coyote fans, I expect continued improvement from the coyotes. Two questions come to mind. The first, will getting a home and home schedule against a quality FCS OOC team get more difficult? The second, will coyote fans start asking for a sixth home game every year?

Don't see why they couldn't have those cold-weather, late November/December play-off games in the Dakota Dome. Come on, we're one state. Especially since the coyotes don't typically use it that time of the year... Sorry, couldn't resist.

I wonder how they pay for things at SDSU? They only had 3,052 at yesterday’s game. I didn’t see any of that one myself. As I told a friend last night, the number of people in seats would’ve been closer to 350 than 3052. They probably did sell 3052 tickets, and I also would say most people wouldn’t have gone to a game outside either, but this scenario is the absolute reason when you play FCS football in the upper Midwest, you have a roof. I’m not going to say it was an embarrassment because of the weather, but it was embarrassing to look at if you watched it. Where you saw one fan, you saw fifty huddled together like cattle. ( I guess that’s perfect for them...lol ) This is why three years ago I said they were wasting $66M or whatever the final number was for that stadium. It’s a beautiful stadium but belongs in Missouri or Georgia. Three Dakota schools play inside, whatsbthat tell you? The advantage would be if a team like Kennesaw had to come to Brookings in December. That would be a lay down. That’s the one thing I’d say about this years Coyote team. When we played outside in adversity we looked awful. Youngstown comes to mind as well as Brookings. So maybe there’s something to that, but why punish the 350 that come? How much would it cost to build a covered stadium? One that would hold 15,000 would already be too small. One for 20,000 would allow a little growth. It would have to be built with at least a 50 year expected lifetime. A capacity of at least 25,000 would probably be best. How much would that cost? We can learn some things from a coup!e of our rivals. One is in a city much larger than Brookings where I believe the larger city participated heavily in the financing. They now have a stadium that no longer allows many fans the opportunity to get a ticket. They cannot make it bigger. The other is in a smaller city and was built at a time when the state still paid for some of the costs of building sports facilities, about 40 years ago. It forced basketball and volleyball to be played on a football field, which wasn't very practical, especially when seasons overlapped. The pool was wedged into a space too small for for regulation dimensions. These conditions persisted for decades. Some of the sports have now moved to better facilities. By the way, after all of these years, the covered football stadium still sits unfinished. When answering my questions about cost, keep in mind that if you add the amounts spent on the three structures which include the Dykhouse Stadium complex, the total amount is approximately the amount that Sioux Falls spent on the Denny. It has a playing surface the size of a sheet of hockey ice and seats somewhere around 12,000 people. Unless the NCAA adds an arena league division that just wouldn't work. I know that you are a lot smarter business mind than I. How do you think SDSU would have been able to pay for that venture, and when? Personally, I think I would like indoor football in November and December.

I take issue with several things from that article. One is Zimmer comparing faking cramps with intentionally fouling bad foul shooter. These two things are remotely the same. One is a legal strategy, while the other is just plain cheating. I do agree, that they will never get called on it. It would be impossible for the refs to be able to say for absolute certain that an injury is fake, but that doesn't make it right. I also took issue with Zimmer saying the cramps weren't to blame for...then pointed out several plays SDSU made throughout the game. That would be like if I told the 1972 Olympic basketball team "well sure you may have gotten screwed at the end of the game, but that had nothing to do with the baskets the Soviets made up until then or the one's that you missed, so therefore it didn't really cost you the game." In every game ever, where a team got screwed and it cost them a win, you could point out plays the winning team made that had nothing to do with the screw job. That doesn't mean the losing team didn't get screwed though. Like I said before though, you can't really blame the refs for the whole cramping thing. (maybe not giving us a TD when Steveler was 2 yards deep into the endzone on 4th down, or the ridiculous targeting where our linebacker took on a block from their OL, but not the cramping). That is never going to get called. The fake cramping falls on the players/coaches/program. Just because you know you won't get caught doesn't make it legal. It was bush league. But, can you prove that there were fake injuries. I mean really prove it. If not your post is total hypocrisy.

I also had doubts about a contrived rivalry with a rock. I doubt that any amount of choreography could have made it real if the games wouldn't have become competitive and important. There is still a bit of that lacking in the Jackrabbits/coyote's rivalry. The status of it will rise when the coyote's win, especially if happens in Brookings. It explodes when it happens twice in a row.
To support my position, I ask you to compare the SDSU vs NDSU rivalry and the SDSU vs USD rivalry in women's basketball.

Someone needs to be reprimanded/fired over this. In what world was this a good idea? They ruined a perfectly good song with a stupid dance. I mean, we finally got rid of "FeaRed" and now this. I've given you guys a little grief over the last year or so about lacking tradition ... But man on man on man, I hope it isn't because of that that your marketing department came up with this. It frightens me to think this might be my fault. If it is, my most sincere apologies!
