Aren't we just talking about flipping Spring Ball with Fall Ball? The players are used to playing in the spring - it will be the fans who need to adjust. (I suppose you could say the players play year-round, so they are the most flexible of when games are played.) SDSU can play a game or two in the Dome early in the season if needed - adapt and move forward. Get the seniors their final year of FB. The schedule might need to be written such that the first two or three weeks are all played indoors or in the southernmost schools in the conference.

It won't happen in spring either, not unless we change our mindset that this virus is just another part of our lives going forward. A vaccine has not been developed and, even when one is, will not eradicate it. Fauci is on record saying this virus will not be eradicated. It will be no different than an annual flu vaccine that is at best 50% effective and people continue to contract, and die from, the flu every year. At some point we're going to come to the realization that this virus is just another thing in the long list of things that can kill people and that we just have to go on living our lives. Sorry if that offends some people but it's time to face reality. There is certainly an amount of truth in what you have written. However, with a new reality, we will probably adopt new priorities. It appears that there is intent to keep as many of the students in town as much as possible by eliminating holidays. The other side of that coin might be to severely limit or eliminate reasons for non-students to enter the campus. That could mean no spectator sports until we get a handle on this thing. The newly refurbished Dome might wait a long time to see any action. Sorry if that offends some people, but it may be time to face reality.

Evening games in the early fall are really quite popular in Brookings. I didn't look up actual numbers but it seems that I recall several crowds of between 12,000 and 15,000 fans. From my own selfish point of view, it allows me to leave the Black Hills on Saturday morning and still arrive in time to greet a few friends in the tailgate area and attend the game. Fall Saturdays are precious and many local fans really like having the day for their regular seasonal activities and still being able to attend the games.

Interesting commentary! I work in healthcare in an area where we have a number of immunocompromised patients, so I practice on the side of caution. I have this one question. If ISU (since they are in the title of this thread and we want to stay on topic), the NCAA, USD, the board of regents, the Missouri Valley Football Conference, or any other entity with the authority mandates that you wear a mask at all times while attending coyote football games, will you attend, and will you comply? Maybe that was two questions.

As a Jacks fan, I don't care who calls your games, or how good or bad they are. I can't think of a reason I would be listening to your broadcast. Fair enough. I know lots of Jacks fans that do, though. I occasionally listen to or watch Jacks games. I'd watch more if there wasn't a fee for streaming your home games. It's not because I don't follow the coyotes, because I do. But it's mostly by checking the scores, sometimes during the game, sometimes not until it is over.

Good vs bad announcers and homerish vs not homerish announcers are not necessarily synonymous comparisons. In a normal summer I would be listening to a lot of baseball games on Sirius XM, which means listening to the home team's announcers. In recent years I have thought that the White Sox and Tigers had announcers that would have been below average in the NAIA. The Yankees, who I despise, on the other hand.have John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman, two of the best in the business, and also two of the homerish in the business. As a Jacks fan, I don't care who calls your games, or how good or bad they are. I can't think of a reason I would be listening to your broadcast.

Here’s how I see this playing out. I could see USD,SDSU, and NDSU voting in favor only to save their tails. UND has no ties to Sanford, so they could be the lone Dakota vote against it, but they also have their own budget issues so they’d likely consider the close proximity over anything else to save money and vote yes. I don’t see DU, ORU, UNO, or KC voting yes. Each of those schools have shown their desires to try and find a better league and likely see this as a WAC move. To me the swing vote is going to lay with WIU, they’re the school probably struggling the most and the generous well timed gift from Sanford might be enough to persuade them to say yes in hopes of future payouts. It looks like any current member can qualify as a swing vote. According to the article from Denver a unanimous vote is required for Angie to be admitted to the Summit League.

My answer probably doesn't carry any importance to you since I am a Rabbits fan, but since our game times vary, I will toss out my perspective. I really like our 6 pm kickoffs earlier in the season. My one-way commute to and from Brookings is a little over six hours, and yes, I do have season tickets. A lot of SDSU fans make similar trips which contributes to our low attendance later in the season. I like being able to leave on Saturday morning and make it to Brookings in time to see a few friends before entering the stadium. Football on pleasant September and October evenings makes for a great game day experience.

Sadly, I don’t think you can grant an extra year. Time stops for no one, and the scholarship $ is gonna get all screwed up with incoming players. It will always be an asterisk like the 1918 Stanley Cup which wasn’t awarded due to Spanish flu. I'm inclined to agree with this, that everyone just ends up being a victim of the circumstances. The discussion, largely aided by all spring sports getting an extra year, has me wondering if this will be the case though. When I look at the list of Spring sports I wonder how many of the student athletes are on full scholarship, or even half scholarship. This begs the question, how many of these will actually stick around for the additional year unless they are still seriously working on their degree.

Anyone been on state's fan board since last night? That must be entertaining!! Want to fire the coach? Expel some players for not fouling? Choking again after last year's loss to 8 seed and now 7th seed? You got us there. Nothing like that happens on this board.

Enough with all this other crap. Our colors are red and white. Stick with that. (get off my lawn, too) I agree. My hometown high school has black as one of its colors. I'm sick and tired of other teams stealing our colors for their uniforms. If you have to take on another team's identity, please choose somebody else's, maybe green, orange, or purple.

Back in the day, the Presidents of the respective schools met at the 50 after the game and the losing President had to remove his slacks. I think that stopped when Betty Asher was our President for obvious reasons. Lol I think the Jug should be awarded to the winning President on the 50 immediately after the game, and in turn presented to their respective team for pomp and circumstance that goes along with winning. I do recall one case of the pants exchange when I was in school. I think it was the SDSU Student's Association president that walked off the field in his winter thermals (on a pretty nice day, actually. )

Maybe both State and U WBB teams are good and deserve more respect on a national level? I have to agree.
