It does not appear to be an injury, nothing has been said one way or another but more than one backup is now in the game for USD. Very interesting. Is kind of a downer watching UND play Montana and SDSU play NDSU on TV and now only being able to listen on the radio to the USD game. I know how you feel. Last night I watched USD vs. Nebraska on ESPN3 while listening to the Jackrabbits on the radio.

And we get upset at the opposing team's announcers when they keep calling us San Diego State University. At least it isn't our own announcers. Unfortunately, you got Mr. Swain on the downhill side of the peak of his career. As USD finishes transition and grows in stature, announcing at USD games will become a more desirable position.

Congratulations on an early season win. It's always nice to get the opener in the W column. For me, beating a Big Sky team makes it even better.

I have watched a little of the game on ESPN3. It looks like the entire point spread can be attributed to points in the paint from the minutes I have watched. I think this is to be expected and may not be anything to worry about too much this early in the season during OOC games.

I'll just throw this out there. I have heard, from a decent source, that St. Cloud has at least been discussed for addition to the Summit. If they drop football (which I have heard is a foregone conclusion) they could become a candidate. You take away the expense of football and distribute some of those scholarships across Summit sports, and St. Cloud might not be a bad addition. Just talk. But who knows? That would help solve the confusion of travel partners in the Summit. NDSU and SCSU could pair up. With the proximity of SCSU to the Twin Cities Airport, travel would improve for the visiting teams. It would allow SDSU and USD to be travel partners, each within an hour of the Sioux Falls airport.

Congratulations to the USD Coyotes and Fans. I am pretty confident that this is the best situation for you for the next few years. As we all know, because we have seen it since the xDSU's first made the transition, things can change in a hurry. But, I think that this will lend a good deal of stability to the conference homes of the universities in South Dakota. I won't be surprised to see NDSU and UND in the same conference some day, whether it be with us or in the Big Sky. Yes, I know that the NDSU fans will ridicule that statement, and that is okay with me. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of other teams change conferences from time to time, but life in the Summit and the MVFC should be pretty good for years to come.
Welcome, and let the rivalries resume, in a civil manner, of course.
