As a Jackrabbit fan I am an outsider here. I know the game outcome was negative. What about the whole concept of playing the game in Sioux Falls? Should the Coyotes do it again? Did it really net USD enough money to give up a home game? Or, did it gain something other than money that made it worth playing in Sioux Falls?

I have contacted several USD alumni that I know in the Black Hills, including one former Coyote football player. Apparently none of them are actually Coyote athletics fans. A couple of them think there is a bar in Rapid City that will have the Coyote game on a TV. One of them thinks it might be in the southwest part of town, perhaps on Sheridan Lake Road. One of the guys spent some time looking at the USD Alumni Ass'n web site, but could not find a location. He did suggest that you contact the USD Alumni Ass'n. He thinks that they might be able to refer you to the Rapid City alumni leadership that might be able to help you. If I find out anything new, I will post it to this thread.
I am sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

When I have been at Thirsty's in Rapid City to watch the Jacks play, they have sometimes had a TV on another regional game. I recall one day when we were watching the Jacks on one TV and one a few feet away had the NDSU @ Gophers game on. I don't know if the Jacks game will have a feed available next week as we are on the road at UNI. If the schedules I looked at are correct, the Jacks should be finishing about the time USD starts. You might call the fine folks and Thirsty's and ask. If you find a few more USD fans to join you, they might be more likely to be accomodating.
The West-River Jacks which is an official part of the SDSU Alumni Ass'n has watch parties at Thirsty's whenever a feed is available. Feel free to join us if that happens. I will let you know via this site.

Good luck against the Bears. I am not an expert, but my prediction is that USD stands a better chance of winning in a low scoring game than a high scoring game.

You graduated most of your starters, which means most of your team has little college football game experience. You have a new head coach who is coaching players he didn't recruit. You have players playing for a coach who didn't recruit them. They are playing against players they have never seen before in stadiums in which they have never before set foot. Your coaches are coaching against coaches they have never coached against before. It should come as no surprise if anxiety and unfamiliarity cause lapses in judgement. It is game experience that will help improve on those. And it might take more than the first half of the first season to get that exerience under the belt.
Yes, the season sucks so far, but the sky isn't falling yet!

I don't have any authentic dress for the occasion. A few people do, or at least think they do. This is a very popular destination during the fair in Rapid City. If you are ever in the Black Hills at this time during the summer, you won't want to miss it.

wrj reporting from the German Tent. It is a pretty wild time. The beer is flowing freely. What else do you do when someone is playing an accordian?

Seriously, why has this music all but gone away? It's fun to listen to and it always seems to help increase my beer consumption. Bumping it this Friday morning on Pandora in the office and sipping on a cup of coffee. Excellent. You need to visit the German Tent at the Central States Fair in Rapid City this week. Go to www.centralstatesfair.com/fair/entertainment/tents.php

Does anyone know the team well enough to go position by position through the starters that graduated and list prospects? Some good information since I asked this question, but I was really asking about the 'yotes, since this is a board dedicated to USD.

The Argus Leader is probably having a prayer vidual as they are in mourning that their beloved Jacks have been defeated. For what it's worth, based on their coverage, The Rapid City Journal doesn't seem to give a rat's backside about USD athletics either!

Hi. I decided to stop by and wish the Coyote ladies a great game. Make South Dakota (the state and the university) proud!

Be patient. A lot of us in Jackrabbit land know pretty much how you feel. We had some pretty tough years too. Remind yourself by going back and reading the old threads over on our board. Some things went better, but I also think that some things went worse for us.

Hopefully they can land a good affiliate in Rapid City & somewhere up north in the Watertown area. For some reason, Rapid City seems to be a tough market in which to get affiliates. I'm not sure what percentage of the Jackrabbits games are available on radio out here. It will probably help if you have an active and organized fan/alumni group operating in the area. I know quite a few USD alums but none of the ones I know follow the Coyotes or return to USD for events. I rely on the internet to follow Jackrabbit athletics. Of course, that doesn't work when I am in the car.

Good luck to the Bison. Too bad Montana lost. Too good Montana lost IMO. They won't play a non conference road game barely ever and get a higher seed every year by staying in comfy Missoula all the while breaking contracts along the way. I can never respect a program that can't live up to their end of a promise. I have to agree with you today cf!
