I also think Herder is on the right track. FBS football is marching towards a split. Going FBS now would guarantee you a spot in that situation.
If the split doesn't happen though that's a tough situation to be in as a Mo State fan. Very few impactful games for those low FBS teams. 6 wins or 11 wins, that team is going to a pointless bowl game. Maybe even at 12 or 13 wins too considering C-USA is the bottom of the FBS barrel.

I was dumbfounded when Nielson was allowed to come back. I chalked it up to Herbster not wanting to go through a coaching search on his way out the door (once we learned of his departure). Now we look poised for a well deserved top 10 preseason ranking and every reason to believe that this team can build on last year's success.
Shows what I know.

This seems like a move one makes with the goal of staying in Vermillion for a long time. Very happy to see it happen.

Missouri State going FBS hurts my brain. How many more mediocre FCS schools can make this jump?

Wow. Goodbye WAC, we hardly knew ya. Side note: not only do Southern UT and Utah Tech sponsor football, but Utah tech also has the men’s team sports we are always looking for: baseball, soccer, golf. Just saying Another side note: Denver fans have to be pissed The WCC is adding Seattle and GCU.The WAC is going to be looking to expand. Wonder if they'll make Denver an enticing offer to return to the conference.

She also married now so depends what her husband job is. I like to see someone who knows the coaches and area in Iowa and Minnesota IDK, it seems like CSU recruits a lot of the same girls we recruit, from my experience in looking at offers. I'm not advocating for an Amber hire, just saying she has been recruiting a similar region for a lot of years now. They end up getting some good talent, too. I doubt she comes to USD for anything less than a HC job. All of her family has stayed close to home (Crofton), and her husband is from Australia. Her tight local roots would be a strong draw if there were ever a USD position that she might be interested in.

Definitely the right move after posting our best D1 season (best one by a wide margin too). I'm glad our interim period without an AD didn't burn us and have our coach go elsewhere. Not everyone would have waited this long for that extension.
Increased pool for assistants is great to see. Hopefully it is an impactful amount.

I wish we had just stayed the course and gone Big Sky all those years ago. The xDSUs would have been forced to follow by now. Forced to follow? That's funny! The Summit would have collapsed. I suppose you think going independent would have worked?

Midco drops Bally Sports North right in the middle of Twins baseball season. I was a longtime Midco loyalist but man they are really starting to suck. I look at my cable/internet bill and it is ridiculous and now they pull this? Bluepeak and streaming are looking better every day. Xfinity is by far the largest cable provider in the Twin Cities and they dropped Bally too. MLB has a serious problem with their regional sports networks.

Per Matt Brown's Extra Point Newsletter (you have to subscribe to read the full newsletter), Stephen F Austin may leave the WAC, which would bring the WAC down to 9 conference members, of which only 4 sponsor football. If that happens he has been told that multiple WAC members will explore other conference membership options. His newsletter states "Specifically, I’ve been told to monitor the Summit League as a potential destination for the Utah-based institutions..." There are 3 Utah schools in the WAC: Utah Valley, Southern Utah & Utah Tech (formerly Dixie State). Southern Utah & Utah Tech both sponsor football. There's two old Great West foes (SUU in football, UVU in basketball). Keep the memory alive! But seriously, if we can add a few Utah schools that would be good for the Summit. Makes a western bloc with Denver and opens the door for more western recruitment. Travel costs would be high but they always will be unless we are adding NSIC schools.

So reports we got 150,000 from Green Bay for buyout of Kayla contract. Plus we payed nothing to Idaho. Well played. Truly a perfect transaction for USD

First chance for our new AD to make a big decision and it seems like he nailed it. I have a much better feeling now than I did two years ago. Love when we can poach sitting D1 coaches (even if she only had 1 year at Idaho).

If Summit hockey comes to fruition, does that mean much for the other sports? I assume any new Summit members would be hockey-only members.
