Ouch. Black Hills St, Montana Western, and Sioux Falls on the home slate. 3 games against NAIA/D2 type schools. Needless to say the Sioux fans are pi**ed about this schedule. At least they get 6 home games and get to look forward to a Big Sky schedule next year. Some posters on SiouxSports are talking about dropping their season tix, suspending financial contributions, etc. Looks like the highlight will be the finale against the Coyotes in what could be the last time the schools play for some time.
I hope USD puts together a better schedule. From what I've heard we've got Lamar coming in, dropped the trip to Illinois St (since we'll be playing them in conference soon enough) and are looking to replace that with an FCS home game and will most likely have two D2 bodybag-type games. It would be nice to get a home game against some past opponents like UCA, McNeese St or even Montana St. who we've travelled to in the past. At least set up a home/home with an FCS school promising a future return trip. We need to be shrewd negotiators and better schedulers that the UND administration has turned out to be. They are getting toungue-lashed by the faithful.
Another concern is 2012, can we get UND to continue the series and come down to Verm. It'd be nice to keep that game going. 8 conference games, 4 home/4 away, one FBS-money game, the UND game home/away, and either a buy-in game or future home/away FCS series (that would mean, depending how its scheduled, either 5 or 6 home games a year)
