USD is overlapping a bit this evening with the mens game at 7PM.
For the UNC game it looks to be a competitive game. Two teams with similar records going at it. The Big Sky is likely tougher than the Great West but USD is probably going to be a bit more improved than UNC. The biggest question is, how long will it take the Lady Yotes to gel?

The Coyotes open on Friday, Nov. 12 at Northern Colorado for a 6 p.m. game, and follow that with a game at Kansas on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. Both games can be heard on KK93 (93.1 FM) out of Yankton.
RECORDS: South Dakota finished 15-16 in 2009-10; Northern Colorado finished 14-16, while Kansas finished 17-16.
SERIES HISTORY: It will be the first meeting between South Dakota and Northern Colorado since 2002-03, when the Coyotes swept the season series. The last meeting between the two teams was on Feb. 8, 2003, which was a 70-47 South Dakota win. The Coyotes lead the all-time series with UNC 17-13. It will be the second meeting ever between South Dakota and Kansas, with the Jayhawks holding a 1-0 lead. Kansas won the first meeting, 87-66 in 1980.
ABOUT SOUTH DAKOTA:
The Coyotes return two starters from last year’s 15-16 squad, led by all-conference selection Amber Hegge, a junior, and junior guard Annie Roche. Hegge led USD in scoring (13.3), rebounding (6.4), total assists (78) and blocks (34). Roche was third on the team in scoring at 9.5 points per game while also being second in assists at 67. Also returning is Teresa Case, the team’s lone senior in 2010-11. Case averaged 24.2 minutes per game off the bench a year ago. Three other players returning with experience include junior Jackie Hiebert (2.2 points, 2.2 rebounds per game), sophomore Sam Mehr (appeared in 30 games a year ago, 12 three-pointers) and sophomore Pam January, who appeared in 17 games a year ago.
South Dakota also adds sophomore Alexis Yackley and junior Jodie Boss to the mix. Both were transfers who sat out 2009-10 as redshirts. Also in the mix is post player McKayla Knudson, a redshirt freshman who sat out 2009-10 recovering from an injury.
The Coyotes will add a talented group of newcomers as well, including sophomore Tempestt Wilson, a transfer from Iowa Western Community College, and freshmen Kate Edwards, Stacia Robertson and Nadia Tronick. The Coyotes were the top scoring defense in the Great West a year ago and will look to be a more potent offensive team in 2010-11.
South Dakota has an enrollment of 10,151 and is located in Vermillion, S.D...Ryun Williams is in his third season at South Dakota with a record of 33-27...in his 16th season overall, Williams has a record of 268-170.

The Coyotes received the most first-place votes – three – and finished with 36 points overall in a very close voting, where the top four teams were separated by just four points. North Dakota was picked to win the league, earning 40 points and two first-place votes. Chicago State was picked to finish second (38 points) while Texas-Pan American was selected third (37 points).
CLIMBING THE CHARTS:
--Sophomore Amber Hegge ranks fourth in career blocks with 88. She recorded 34 this season, which was seventh-best in a single season in USD history.
HEGGE, BOSS, YACKLEY EARN PRESEASON ALL-GWC HONORS:
Three members of the South Dakota women’s basketball team have received preseason honors from the Great West Conference, the league announced on Friday. Junior Amber Hegge earned preseason all-conference first-team honors, while junior Jodie Boss earned second-team honors. Sophomore Alexis Yackley received honorable mention selection. Hegge was a first-team All-Great West selection in 2009-10, while Boss and Yackley both sat out as redshirts last season after transferring from other schools.
