Thanks for posting the Midco links. Jay really does a great job and the new guy isn't bad either. I'm not only impressed by the improvement at various positions so far this season, but also how much nicer the west side of the Dome looks after the new bleachers were installed. Huge improvement.

Will we have a depth chart posted before the game? Some schools appear to put more emphasis on this and continually update the changes. I understand how it could be a motivating tool for the players but I like to see who the up-and-coming contributors might be.

If the same process is followed as last year - the game notes with depth chart will be posted on GoYotes.com in the next day or two.

As we near "kickoff" of another Coyotes season, a few predictions on my part.
The offense will be "Top of the Valley" good. The same can be said of the QB.
It's hard to predict if the Defense will end up being better than last year, as they have some big losses to overcome (Starr and entire backfield). However, I have confidence in Coach Petrino & staff and the talent level of those who are in the mix to replace. I'm pretty sure that the defense playing at the end of the year will be better than that at the start.
Not going to venture a guess on W-L's due to the defensive questions, however, I will say this: There are 5 MVFC teams in the top 27 in the polls, (9 MVFC teams received votes in one poll, no Yotes), there won't be 5 teams finishing in front of the Coyotes in the MVFC.

Making that jump up to fifth would be a huge one. We should have little trouble topping Indiana State and Western Illinois, but it's tough to pick out any teams after that; this conference is LOADED! If I had to pick three more teams that we would finish above to get us up to your prediction I would guess Missouri State, Southern Illinois, and Youngstown State, but that would be a very big accomplishment for this team. We certainly have the right coaching staff to make that happen!

It is a tough conference, and I wouldn't venture a guess as to who falls where in the end. However, I agree with Coach when he says "we are close". I don't think people are giving us credit for how close we really are.
Last year we defeated one top twenty team (UNI) and in my opinion we had 2 more in our hands (Montana and Youngstown State) that we let slip away late. I'm also looking forward to the NAU rematch with Earl at QB. I think it's clear that we are close, and can't wait for the season to start.

We could have had such a better record last year, especially if Earl started against NAU and WIU. I feel we would have beat both those teams, keep Youngstown and Montana from slipping through and we would have been 8-4 and likely in the playoffs. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, point is that we were faaaaaaaarr better than our 4-8 record and look to be highly improved again this year. If we had no questions in the secondary I'd put us down as a playoff contender.
