As the parent of a player I want everyone to know that I couldn't more satisfied and thankful to have Joe Glenn as his my son's Coach and additional Mentor of Character. These young men that play need to see that it starts at the top. Talent does not "Trump everything". We are now seeing in the NFL and college ranks how the bad apples really do negatively impact the whole program. The quality of kids, let's not forget that they are kids, has improved substantially. By my sons words, "the team this year is the best character and closest knit group since I've been here". The whole team is committed to getting better every week and they all want to win. Every one of them gives an all out effort every week. The time and physical commitment is enormous, to say the least. I know that the players are giving it all and the coaches are too.
In my opinion the issue is that not many players can play at this level nor can many coaches coach at this level. I fully believe that every coach on this team gives it the very best that they have. But, their "best" is just not enough to coach against the more experienced coaches at this level of football. Joe knows what needs to be done he simply does not have the money or some of the coaches to do it and I am not sure he wants to make the hard choices. I wouldn't either, if you have ever had to "let someone go" you know what I am talking about. Every coach on this team is an excellent person with high morals and character for which I am thankful. This team is very good and we have the talent to win a lot of games. The right kids are in place now the only way to get them to the level that is required in the MVFC is experienced coaches and we are couple short of the mark. We ARE that close to something special. If the coaches we have on hand can clean up a couple of areas and get consistent results in those areas, clear the way for excellent results.
As a graduate of "the other SD football team" I stand tall and proud to be a parent of a Coyote Football Player! We are so close to something special…...

This thread should pick up some more steam after a Missouri State 24-3 lead at the half. The Coyotes simply have not shown up for this game in any fashion.

I've heard he is too loyal to a fault, if he doesn't shake up the assistants after this year we will be seeing it in practice

It has been absolutely no secret that this is the year that we needed to take a step forward. The fans wanted it, the coaches were vocal about it, but here we are. 7 games in with no meaningful signs of progress from last season.
There are 5 games to right the ship, what do you guys need to see? I need to see 3 wins. It's definitely possible, and entirely necessary to show that we are doing something right here

The way it is looking right now the Yotes will be lucky to get any wins from here on out.
What a disaster!

He has had 3 years. I think once he can get a full recruiting class of his in things will turn around. We cannot be like the other schools and fire coaches back and forth. We need to give him a chance. There is no way we would be as good as we have been by beating some top teams without him.

We're not at a point where we should fire Joe Glenn but he really has to start shaking things up and showing results. We endured the final years of Ed and now this. Alot of us have been faithful 'Yote followers for years, continually increase our support ($, attendance, etc) but yet our teams keep getting hammered year in and year out. I'm not expecting championship dynasties just teams that have respectable results and aren't consistently in the bottom tier of the conference. Coming into this year I thought anything less 6 wins a disappointment.

Under Glenn USD has 6 Division one wins to 23 losses Those 6 wins are 2012 Colgate (home game win by 10 - largest margin of victory for the Yotes that Glenn has had. Colgate does well in their conference, but they did not even have close to the same amount of scholarships as USD because of their conference rules at the time.). Obviously this was the lone win in 2012 2013 UC Davis ( home game win - 10-7 against a UC Davis team with a brand new HC that was hired to fix a declining UC Davis program. Sloppy bad game by both teams.) Missouri St (home game win -17-14 against a reeling MSU squad that did turn their season around and finish 5-3 in the conference but was not selected to the playoffs)* you could make a case that indeed this was the biggest win of Glenn's tenure to date. Indiana St (home game win - 17-14 against a burning dumpster fire of a year there. Shakir Bell was kicked off their team shortly after this game in one of the more remarkable sad stories of elite talent not reaching its potential. They did not win a game last year. That was their HC first year leading the program.) UNI (road win - 38-31. This was certainly my pick for most satisfying, but other than being a road victory it is not necessarily a signature win. UNI was decimated last year and finished with a losing record overall and a 3-5 MVFC record.) 2014 NAU (home win 28-21). Only D1 win this year - hopefully there will be more this year. I do believe there has been progress for the Yotes. They are bigger, faster, and stronger. There have not been acceptable results though. At least we don't have to complain about close losses this year.

This program is desperate for a "spark" to get things rolling. We're losing games by margins that I expected in our first year in the Valley. I think that playing competitive games in our first year (5 out of 8, if I remember correctly) and actually get to the point of talking about playoffs in our second set the bar a little high for this year's team. We are in a dangerous 'catch 22', we need to win games to win the recruiting battles with our conference foes, and we need to win the recruiting battles to win games. We need to win games to keep players, donors, fans excited about the program and we need to keep players, fans, and donors excited to win games. We can't let this season roll out of control. We all (players, fans, donors) need to get behind the cause now and start the fire! We've got NDSU, SDSU, Youngstown State, Illinois State, WIU, all tough, tough opponents. If we can focus our efforts as if each game was the biggest game for our program's future, I think we can get multiple wins which will be a nice launching board for the next few years. Lets go Yotes!!

This is very sad. It really is, there's just no other way to characterize the situation. At the start of the season, I think we were better than we have been, and as many of us stated, so was the rest of The Valley. But quite frankly we are worse today than we were at the start of the season. Our team has a virus right now, and I'm not certain we can get rid of it before the seasons end. What caused the virus? I don't know, but I know when a team has one, and we do.
I don't know how to attach a link to this post, but go to the Argus Leader video of Joes press conference. He's at a loss for what to say. His face says it all. It isn't like he doesn't know how to coach, hell he's won 3 national titles. Also, he's more COYOTE than Charlie Coyote himself. There isn't a parent that has a son playing football that would ever object to Joe being their coach. Not one. He does it the right way, and he is influencing young men at a pint in their lives where influence is damned important, but the fact remains is they aren't getting the job done.
I have a pretty strong feeling of what I think is going on,but I'm not going to post it on a board. I think the virus is cure able, I'm just not sure of the timetable it would take. I am a booster that goes to damned near every game, supports them financially as much as I can, and I want to see us get some wins as well. But this situation (virus) has a anti biotic that I think could still produce 3 more wins, but I'm not sure we have anyone that can administer it. It can't come from Joe. I interact with these guys a lot, and they love Joe Glenn. They are sick that they can't get him into the winners circle. But the problem is deeper, and I would prefer it gets healed the right way.
No ones going to fire Joe, get that out of your minds. Joe may damned well retire after this season, and if he does, we start over again, and then we are back to square one, needing time to produce, etc. It's all mental right now. Yesterday, we make mistake after mistake and do the dumbest things at the wrong times. Ask yourself why? The answer is the kids don't believe they can get it done...period. They can say in public they do, but they don't. If someone punches them in the mouth, they don't want to fight. End of discussion. Not cowards, they just don't think they can do it. I personally think they can. We aren't there talent wise to be in the upper half of The Valley, but it's getting better...slowly. But we are good enough to beat ANYONE, and that includes NDSU.
We need a raucous crowd Saturday as loud as the Dome base ever been. We need to back these kids for 60 minutes, to give them the synergy they need to play their damned guts out and lay it on the line. Personally speaking, I don't think our fans have it in us to do it,but I'm putting the challenge out there. I'm dropping my gloves and wanting to go outside and pick a fight. 8000 loud Coyote fans can create that environment that is necessary to pull this off.
Quit this nonsense of having Glenn fired. We can debate that at Thanksgiving. For now, we need to exercise the demons within our program, and have some positive Karma. As the old say goes, it's always darkest before dawn. My question to both the fans and team, is it dawn yet

I'm for putting the Joe Glenn firing noise to rest.
Is there a coach in the MVFC with a resume like Joe's? Really? My vote, as a donor, is leave the evaluation of his work until at least he is coaching his first recruiting class as Seniors. He has a proven record, to deserve that.
