All part of the "Dome" field advantage! Dressing at Frost and having to walk across the parking lot to that hole of a stadium in Brookings is so much classier, huh? If hired at YSU, Pelini becomes a part of the 2016 inaugural season at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. Penguins set to visit Oct 22. (Hobo Day?) Reply Retweet Favorite More Touche'....nicely played. State still sucks! Go Yotes!

Incredible hire for YSU, don't even have to pay a good wage if Nebraska is signing his checks. I hope everyone in the Dome gives him an earful!

Poorlini could be one good chant. He will blow a gasket in the dome for sure! Will be fun to watch. Should never have been Nebraska's coach and certainly never paid anywhere close to the amount of dough he got (and will still get)!!

Back to proposed names for the new and improved rabbit hole in Brookings: wow, with a name like "Dykhouse" in the mix, fans/students just might want to call it the Dana or similar.
Sorry, I know this smacks a bit but it's cold and we need to get the blood flowing a bit.

Sorry, I know this smacks a bit but it's cold and we need to get the blood flowing a bit. We all take turns at taking shots at SDSU, and they in turn do the same, and sometimes it's funny, but other times it's not. One thing you have to be impressed with at State is the investment they are making into football. Whether you like the outdoor stadium or not, what they are going to have is impressive, and will enhance their program. Add the indoor practice facility, and what they are doing is setting themselves up for success, and continued success. The fact that Mr. Dykhouse invested so much speaks volumes about him I feel. He played for the Jacks in an era where they weren't factors at all, and despite that, has invested millions of dollars into something he totally believes in, and that's fantastic. I admire the hell out him. It was pointed out to me by a friend that for years he employed Coyote football players in the summer, and even if they "filled" their summer allotment, if a coach called him and requested they take another player for intern, he usually did. He's been good to USD in that manner, and although he wants to beat the Coyotes as bad as I want to beat the Jacks, when the games over he leaves it on the field. That is a very healthy rivalry approach to the game. I tell this story for a couple of reasons. One, I wished we had former players or alumni that have the capability to fund such an event that would step to the plate and do so. People, it takes courage to donate a large sum of money into something you don't know what the result will be, but are hopeful. Mr. Dykhouse has courage. Quite frankly we have people capable of a lot not giving anything. That also speaks volumes. I'm not sure why that is,but it's not a good situation. If you remember, I started a thread called ARMS RACE and I think I hit the nail on the head. We are going to be left behind if we don't rally soon. The arena project is awesome, much needed, but a huge mistake was made when they took the Dome improvements off the table. We ARE NOT investing in our football program. Period. You can be hopeful, and pray we get lucky, but overall we are in trouble. Since I started that thread, two coaching changes I'm aware of have taken place. Bo Pellini, like him or not, is the new coach at Youngstown State. Then just the other day Missouri State hired the University of Missouri defensesive coordinator, who took a $330,000 PAY CUT to take the job. Do you think Missouri State is going to remain idle? We need to turn the heat up on our own program or we are going to be the laughing stock of the league. Joe Glenn needs help. And if not Joe Glenn, then whomever follows. But we have to invest soon or we will be left out and all we will ever get is the high hanging fruit athletes. Ones you have to take chances on. I'm prepared to step up. Anyone else?

Does anybody see this hire of Pelini as a long term thing? Any details of the contract, like number of years, released? I know it is his home town and he has kids that he has said that he would like to attend Cardinal Mooney in Youngstown for high school, but is this really a destination job for Bo? I sure hope not. Having a relatively successful and well known former big ten coach won't help anybody's chances in the MVFC. IF he has any success, don't you think he gets bigger opportunities sooner rather than later?

But we have to invest soon or we will be left out and all we will ever get is the high hanging fruit athletes. Ones you have to take chances on. I'm prepared to step up. Anyone else? As a former player, I too am concerned about the state of our facilities compared to other in the league, especially those guys just north of us. It was difficult enough to recruit to the U when our facilities are considered at least equal, but now that they have all of these new projects going up for football, on top of struggling to win games, it is going to be really hard. I wish I had the means to do something about our lack of private donations, but sadly I don't. My $300 a year to the Howling pack isn't putting much of a dent in our facilities situation. My fear is that if we can't fundraise with Joe at the helm, who is one of the best guys I know of in that department, then when will it ever happen. Its hard to get $$ when the state of the program is up in the air. State has had the same coach for years and trusted his process through some struggles, and it payed off. Maybe we need to do the same. But no matter what, we need to find some people who will ante up so the dome can be improved, or like you said, we will definitely be on the wrong end of the ARMS RACE

Here is the PC with Pelini. I know being a public speaker isn't part of being a HC, but he is a bumbling buffoon, in my opinion. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALJAAsglLScObviously I don't have any bias...
