According to Mick on today's AL Live-Chat the Yotes will be acquiring the services of Tom McGuire, a 6'4", 285lb transfer from Elon out of the FCS Colonial Athletic Association. This is the same conference that has Richmond, James Madison, Delaware, New Hampshire, etc... Elon is in its second year in the CAA after moving from the Southern Conference and they finished just 1-11 last year. Mick noted that McGuire wants to do his student teaching, start in on his masters, and play some more ball. He's played all three spots on the line and should add needed depth and experience up front. Here is a link to his latest roster bio: www.elonphoenix.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3393McGuire also made the Academic All-Conference Team www.elonphoenix.com/news/2015/3/19/FB_0319152524.aspx I look forward to seeing what this kid can do.

According to his profile, he red-shirted in 2011. Shouldn't that mean that he will have to sit out this year and then will only be eligible to play in 2016/17? Not complaining, just curious. He looks like a solid player. www.elonphoenix.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3393

Not sure Ed. I left my compliance officer hat back at the office, but I'm guessing since he'll likely have graduated already which may allow him the same type of lee-way James Hunter was given upon transferring from Washington State. Just spit-balling though.

Good call. I misread his profile when it said JR.

I'm not saying this is the case with this guy, but if he did graduate with a degree and has a year of elgibility left, he's eligkble day one without sitting out for a year. Given the fact he is a 4th year junior, that's entirely possible.

If he has already used 3 years of eligibility over 4 years I believe he has to be a graduate transfer eligible to play this year. I don't think they would let him transfer and sit out a year. It would use up the last of his eligibility if he did.

He will be eligible to play this fall. Early rumors have him being the guy to beat for the RG spot.
