Is this the part where we pretend like we would rather play in the WNIT? Sure is! Playing at home against losing teams from bigger states is far better than being on the biggest stage. That may be an actual quote from last year. Even an average day shooting would have been a win. Sure picked the worst day to have an off game. Huh? This was a dominant performance by a team that had a score to settle. I have never seen AJ that emotional at the end of a game. I think it is obvious that he is tired of hearing any comparison between the two schools. Order was restored today. I understand the bitterness but SDSU's Women have been dominant for a long time. USD has a good program, but 2 years does not put your program anywhere near the success AJ has had, nor the program he has built.

Just poking fun. Definitely a great year for basketball for the whole state of South Dakota. Hurts to say it and others might disagree, but I hope the Jacks can rustle some feathers in the tourney. If anything, a WNIT bid might give us a few more games to watch our seniors.

State won the regular season in 2007 but weren't in the championship game. You mean the year they weren't eligible for The Summit League Tournament because they were only in their first year in the conference???

Okay, I'm a little slow today. I recognize some are just trying to have a little fun with Jacks fans so rather than me print the actual facts, below I have pasted a link to the SDSU Media Guide so you can read the facts yourselves about SDSU's women's basketball success and post-season appearances. The Jacks have won six Summit League Titles. Look 'em up. issuu.com/jackrabbitathletics/docs/wbb_media_guide_13-14?DB_OEM_ID=15000&DB_LANG=COne thing that is good for all teams in the conference is the growing strength of the USD program and for that Coach Williams deserves tremendous credit. I keep saying that the immediate goal is two teams in the NCAA Tourney and if we can attain that goal, then the goal is three teams. USD has stepped up. Will the other schools?

State won the regular season in 2007 but weren't in the championship game. Jacks weren't eligible for the SLT because we were still in transition. The women won the tournament our first 5 years and now 6 out of 7. Damn you yotes even suck at smack.Color me shocked.lol

SDSU has now won 6 of the 7 Summit League Tournaments since becoming eligible. USD has the other tournament title. Get you facts straight..... Also SDSU had 2 true freshman on the all-tournament team. The future is pretty dang bright for SDSU women's basketball.

USD would have won most, if not all, those titles if we were in the same position as SDSU was. Minimal competition with a decidedly home court advantage. Three years of the two competing in the tourney and we have one close win for SDSU and a lopsided victory for both. Props on moving up first, but it's been very even since the two have actually been competing.

Sad way to end a great season for the Yotes. I like that the have had to do battle with the Jacks in the tourney the last 3 years. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Side note: for the sake of all SDSU and USD fans, we better hope that SDSU running away with a tourney title isn't the "order" of things. For all fans of SD basketball the Summit League needs to get better as a whole or there will be a lot of #15 and #16 seeds for whoever wins the league. Ideally, 5 or 6 teams would have shot to win it every year or the league will never get better than one AQ qualifier in the NCAA tourney.

Congrats to the Jacks on a convincing win. The past is over, and the future looks bright for both squads. On thing is for sure, and that is anything can happen year to year. If I'm not mistaken the SDSU and NDSU men were pre-season ranked #4 and #5 and just played in the championship game. I'm excited to see what next year has in store. There should be some great matchups. Good luck to SDSU in the tourney. As much as I like to see them lose, it makes the Summit look tougher and show the depth of the league if they can compete in the tourney.

Nicole Seekamp was awarded tournament MVP again. Three consecutive years that title has gone to a USD player. I was at the tournament with some friends on Monday night we thought the Nicole would win the MVP even if SDSU won the game unless a SDSU player went completely crazy. SDSU just plays so many players and they spread the ball around so much that they don't have anybody put up big numbers. That's partially why Nicole won it two years ago, too. She is a great player and deserves it but USD has a couple of studs and several good roll players where SDSU is all good players. Most years SDSU will only have one or maybe two players on the preseason/postseason all-conference teams even though they are picked the best team in the conference. Nicole will be hard to replace but USD played a lot of players this year so they have several options to pick up the slack of her and the other seniors.

Props on moving up first, but it's been very even since the two have actually been competing. I agree with most of this post but the part that says, "Minimal competition". Other than the USD games, SDSU has won their four other tournament games all by more than 10 points(in the last 3 years). In 2011-2012, SDSU beat UMKC in the championship game in OT. That is the same UMKC team that lost to USD by 6 in the dome and beat USD by 12 in Kansas City. In 2010-2011, SDSU won their games by 11,3 and 7 points. All of those margins were less that SDSU is beating teams by now. Im not saying that the whole conference is worse than it was back then but it isn't better. USD makes it better but Oakland and ORU with Lupper and Co. were loses for the conference. In 2009-2010, SDSU beat a ORU team that had Kevi Lupper, Bingham and Co. in OT. They went to the NCAA Tournament and lost AT Oklahoma by 11 points. The next year(I think), that ORU team went on the the NCAA Tourney for a different conference. I know they went, I just don't remember what year it was. In 2008-2009, SDSU won their Summit League Tournament games by 10 and15 points and a blow-out. They then went on to the NCAA Tournament and beat TCU by 35 points and lost AT Baylor by 2 points. There was always some competition or SDSU and USD would only lose to each other in conference games. It's just SDSU and USD have been a little ahead since they joined the league.
