I don't want this post to come across as a slight to our previous coaching staff, but when I start seeing some of the great athletes that the U has signed I ask myself the question...would we have had this kind of success with the previous staff? I realize that some of the young men had relationships established with the new staff and we picked up some great athletes because of these relationships, but I also think the commitment and the new direction the administration has given the football program can also be attributed to our success today. I'm looking forward to the Signing Day Socials and to hear what the staff has to say about our new Coyotes. Fight South Dakota!

I was just thinking of my instant analysis, opinion, gut feeling, etc. versus the long-term view. For example, we saw Michigan picking up the #1 ranked high school prospect and some of us think that is a slam dunk and he will be a disruptive DT in the Big 10, but he could be a flop as well.

Great flips by USD... It does some that this regime recieved commitments from different areas than usual. Will be interesting to see how well they transfer. Has to be exciting to think this staff is a FCS playoff caleber regime!

If I were a recruit it would've been hard to commit to the previous staff given ambiguity of how long Joe was going to coach. I have to give it to administration and the commit they’ve made to Coyote Football.

Just as excited about this recruiting class as everybody else on the board, but we go through this every year. We all "Oooo and Ahhhh" over the list of commits and look at stats and highlight tapes. You can only judge a recruiting class after they have used up their eligibility here.

This seems appropriate here: www.sbnation.com/college-football-recruiting/2015/2/3/7970291/national-signing-day-rationalizations-itll-be-ok-itll-be-ok 1 Rival U is cheating significantly more than my school is. 2 Our many JUCO signees have unique stories full of context and nuance, unlike Rival U's, who are bad people. 3 Recruiting rankings are [total bullshit/anti-Great Plains/flawed forever because Texas commits were overrated like five years ago/ESECSPNBIAS/social constructs devised by the patriarchy] anyway. 4 Rival U's four-star quarterback should play wide receiver or whatever. 5 Our four-star wide receiver/athlete just needs one year of coaching and ~voila~ a quarterback. 6 He's only a two-star because he's not in ~our~ strength program yet. 7 [massive spree of excuses for your school's mediocre academic rankings and sad NFL Draft production, all in the same list somehow] 8 I know a guy who says [...]. 9 Rival U's out here cutting student-athletes from its commitment list as if it's a downsizing drug cartel, whereas your critiques of my alma mater severing ties with some unacceptable players lack the facts. 10 After studying* his film**, I think [...]. 11 Rival U's top signee wasn't even the best player in his own Home Ec class. 12 Player said he chose us over Rival U because of our engineering program. This is why my school is special. The media should make a bigger deal out of this. Wow, the first Super Bowl MVP to land on Jupiter; can't wait. He made a 400-year decision, not a four-year decision. Rival U doesn't even have an engineering program that I acknowledge. I am shuddering with hope for the future of our species. 13 Player said he chose Rival U over us because of their engineering program. Engineering cheating. 14 Enormous monster speedbeast will never make the NFL, and the reason for that is he signed at Rival U. 15 That our many unrated players have the same rating as Ed Reed is noteworthy. 16 Kansas State has two-stars. Kansas State wins. We have two-stars. ERGO FACTO. 17 Most of these signees and our head coach will still be here in four years. 18 He only picked Rival U because his girlfriend/mom/dog/brother goes there. We didn't even waste all of our time trying, wisely. 19 My tweets at recruits mattered. 20 Alabama lost to underdog recruiting lightweight Ohio State a couple years ago, so recruiting rankings are meaningless. 21 Khalil Mack and like a million blue chips get picked in the NFL Draft, so recruiting rankings are meaningless. 22 The NCAA will do something about Rival U's cheating soon. 23 The NCAA. 24 I'll try and pay less attention to recruiting next year. 25 We didn't want him. * watching most of the first half of ** junior year YouTube highlights set to Future

To anybody that, for even a moment, was envious of the fact that Youngstown State hired Bo Pelini or to anybody that thinks he is a worthy head coach, I present Exhibit A for how he operates: www.ysusports.com/sports/fball/2016-17/releases/2016-nli-signeesI mean...ahhhh...ummmm...I've got nothing... Edit: Bo's excuse - small senior class. OK...

Wow...I'm guessing even those graduates of the state institutions without accredited business schools could count the number of signees that YSU received today.

Kind of ironic that one of the last members to commit to this years recruiting class was Jake Richardson, who was the subject of the very first post on this thread back on April 17, 2015.

Ditto what sdyotefan stated. I'm out in the "flocked trees" (Black Hills) now but come this fall I'll be in the Dome watching a some of these recruits playing. Can't wait ...... To me, this is further evidence that we need a Rapid City or Black Hills chapter of the Howling Pack. To my knowledge, RC is a USD town, isn't it? At least in relation to SDSU? I think you and sdyotefan should get something started I don't know how the numbers of alumni compare. It seems to me, looking through my yellow and blue lenses, that SDSU alumni are far more visible, based on team clothing that I see and the availability of team clothing in the stores. I know quite a few USD alumni, but they express little or no interest in coyote athletics. This includes some Vermillion natives and one member of the coyote's hall of fame. Many are shocked that a lot of Jackrabbit fans regularly return to our campus for games and other reasons. I know people who say they love to return for Dakota days, but have no interest in going to the football game. You may have decent numbers of Alumni in the Black Hills area. If you get a howling pack chapter started, enthusiasm for the coyote's may be a significant early challenge.

The following is from the Argus Leader article regarding State College's 2016 recruiting class:
"Late in the recruiting process the program was approved to offer cost of attendance money to some recruits. Stiegelmeier suggested that was done so on a largely case-by-case basis, but it sounds as though they’ll be offering full cost of attendance (as NDSU and USD do) sooner than later."
Interesting that this info doesn't come out until after SDSU has received the signed letters of intent for their 2016 class.

I would guess he will bring in a large group of BCS transfers to compliment this recruiting class.

So some of their recruits got it and others didn't. Hmmm, would be a tough spot if all knew they could offer it but weren't putting it forth.
Just seems very unethical to me and I question the administrators there for allowing this to happen. There needs to be some hard questions asked of Stig, Sell, and the Pres. Where was the Argus in this cover-up? Why are the tough questions not being asked?
Commence faux outrage.
