I think Northern Iowa is still considered Midwest. Last time I checked they did beat NDSU last year. SDSU is famous for pulling the If only this would have happened we would have won the national championship. I would also put the panther's program higher in the Midwest pecking order than SDSU. USD is struggling in a bad way right now but coyotefan is correct. Over the history of the prgroam the Jacks really havnt produced much postseason success. If you want to look at 4 years when you had the most successful running back in the history of FCS football and 3 or 4 playoff wins over that 4 year span with the best running back in the history of FCS football then yes the bunnies are a powerhouse in the Midwest.

How's it going everyone Byron Bullock here , played at USD from 07-09 number 9 . First post on here figure this would be a good way to keep up with football at USD , anyway what happen to USD recruiting out west I remember when I was going through my process that was a huge reason why I committed to South Dakota over other schools the heavy presence of West coast players . I look at th roster now and see there is hardly if any west coast players on the roster. I guess as coaches change recruting locations change. I remember you Byron, you played LB when I was in school. I am guessing that with coaching changes so does the geographic area that they have ties with. It seems that USD is now recruiting Florida, Missouri, and Kansas more than years past. Which coach most actively recruited you out of Cali? It was great having you play here and thanks for thinking out of the box to come to SD and play, hope all is well.

I saw this. I thought it was funny how the SDSU coaches try to put down USD to make them look better. ‘You should really come South Dakota State if you want to go to the best school in South Dakota.’ And I was like, ‘Oh OK.’ If the coach is talking football, right now I will give that to him. If he was talking about education I will just laugh and keep my mouth shut. “No, it’s funny because when I was on the phone with (SDSU) I told them I was planning on visiting South Dakota because they had offered me yesterday,” Richardson said. “He said, ‘You should really come South Dakota State if you want to go to the best school in South Dakota.’ And I was like, ‘Oh OK.’ He was talking about the facilities and how much money they are putting into the new facilities they have. It’s like over $100 million. It’s crazy. The article clearly states that the discussion was in regards to "facilities". Pretty honest from an SDSU standpoint. Brand new Indoor Practice Facility and a serious upgrade to the stadium. As for a National Championship, I'm pretty sure we were the only school in the playoffs to really give NDSU a run. Get past them last year, and guess what. We are likely talking SDSU v Ill State for a National title. The pecking order in the upper Midwest right now goes NDSU, SDSU, big gap, USD, big gap, UND. That is just the way it is. What is your rational for the big gap/big gap for UND. Is the primary reason MVF vs Big Sky foot print.

The Valley is a much, much better conference from top to bottom than the BSC. Last season we were 1-1 against BSC conference teams, a win at home against NAU and a close loss at Montana. We then proceeded to get our doors blown off in the Valley. Yeah, as bad as our record was last season I think we have a better team than UND and would beat them on the field. NDSU is going to absolutely take UND to the woodshed this year. Given all the build-up for that game I am sure UND will come out fired up and ready to play but I think NDSU is going to be merciless and make a statement about the pecking order in that state.

Coach Prosser just tweeted about a new lineman commit from Iowa. Anybody know who it is?

It looks like he played 8 man football in Iowa. Usually not a fan of players from such small schools and not 11man, but looks like the kid has good size. Good job and looking forward to seeing him in Red.

Yeah figured , and yes i was actually a safety for the program just at the time I was the same size as our LBs ha. And a big influence on me going to USD was coach Jarod Dodson , he himself also being a native Angeleno helped me become acclimated to the Midwest life. But even before he recruited me i actually was a verbal to Nebraska but coaching changes made me back off and when i did all I had left scholarship wise was other D-1aas so I guess it was meant for me to play ball in the Midwest . Definitely loved my time in South Dakota , great people and environment
